My text, Misdirections, a response to Swansea Performance Weekend, is now live at the link in my bio or via @swanseaperformance
I had a lot of fun writing this, staying with these works, and dreaming of the Kardomah. The words quoted in the third slide are from Alex Hetherington’s wonderful Sister Films, which was part of the programme. And of course there are lots of borrowings and tangents led by the work of the contributing artists and other gossips. Thanks to @vrosssmith and @hollyslingsby for the commission 🍧

My review of Carolyn Lazard’s Long Take at @nottm_contemp is now online @artpapers
This was a difficult work to write about, but I think this difficulty might be the cost of imagining something more/otherwise. Grateful I got to spend time thinking about it (haven’t finished).

When Earth Speaks: a Dirty Ensemble @mirandawhall @aberystwytharts 08/06
Responding to a live data stream from a sensor network in the Elenydd, seven artists (Neil Luck, Maya Kadish, Angela Wai-Nok Hui, Tim Beckham, Ashley John Long, Constance Humphries, Miranda Whall) tuned to each other, creating a sort of ecosystem on stage. Stunning and complex work drawing attention to issues of ecology, environmental collapse, complicity and alienation, the politics of data, knowledge production/extraction/capture, embodiment.
When Seeds Speak: A Seedy Ensemble comes to @chapterartscentre in September 🌾
