April 25, 2026 - "While journalists inside the White House Correspondents' Dinner celebrated with the powerful, we brought them the face of Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil and asked a simple question: why are you silent while your colleagues are being killed? From Gaza to Lebanon to Iran, reporters are being killed by Israel, civilians are under bombardment. History will remember who spoke up and who partied with war criminals."

"As doctors, we do not ask who deserves care before treating a patient. We take an oath to protect life without discrimination. Today, we are here because 18 of our colleagues remain imprisoned without charge, without trial, and without justice, including two doctors who were murdered while in custody, whose bodies have yet to be returned.

Detaining doctors while Gaza’s health system is being destroyed is not only an attack on individuals; it is an attack on the right to health of an entire population. When doctors are detained for treating the injured, when hospitals become targets, and when doctors disappear into prisons without due process, the entire world should be outraged.

As healthcare workers, we cannot normalize this. We cannot stay silent while our colleagues are starved, abused, and disappeared for simply fulfilling their ethical duty to heal.

We demand the immediate release of the Gaza 18 and all detained healthcare workers, because healthcare workers are not targets. Healing is not a crime, and silence in moments like this is complicity."

"They forced us to keep our heads down, our knees on the ground, on hard surfaces or in dirty water. They stuffed us into unventilated containers for hours at a time. They literally flooded our sleeping space with seawater in the middle of the night. They physically beat anyone who did not immediately follow their directions"

On May 18th and 19th, U.S. citizens aboard humanitarian sailboats were illegally intercepted and violently abducted by the Israeli military in international waters.

On board were parents, doctors, nurses, engineers, lawyers, teachers, journalists, and ordinary people from all walks of life who were carrying baby formula, medicine, and essential humanitarian supplies.

On May 20, there will be a rally at the State Department to demand the immediate and unconditional release of all detained crew members, including 21 US citizens.

"There is no greater moral injury than allowing the targeting, killing, and detention of those who are trying to save lives. There is no greater betrayal than the silence and complicity of medical institutions and medical colleagues who have said nothing. And there is no greater failure of humanity than governments continuing to enable the attack on humanity and the killing of healthcare workers."

"What is happening in Palestine is not far from home. The systems that allow this to happen in Palestine, the systems that are killing healthcare workers in Lebanon, and attacking hospitals in Iran, are the same systems that attack healthcare workers here for protesting against ICE."

"Our children deserve a future where health is a right, not something you pay for."

We call on all healthcare professionals, on all humans, to join this movement to put an end to the targeting of humanity through killing and systematically attacking healthcare anywhere in the world.

"I'm a brand new doctor. I just graduated. I've learned a lot in those four years, and I've learned that medical schools often have in their curriculum things that include cultural competency, addressing health equity. And yet here I stand in the United States, having tried to visit with the ultimate professional organization of physicians, the American Medical Association, to yet again ask them to lead by example for their students and their residents, their learners, in addressing the systematic destruction of hospitals in Gaza and the kidnapping and detention of physicians living in conditions that we wouldn't accept for ourselves."

The systematic use of s/xual and gender-based abuse against Palestinian detainees documented in the New York Times investigation reveals a pattern of violence carried out in a climate of impunity, where these abuses are persistent, widely known, and left unpunished.

These are not isolated incidents.
This is a system.

R/pe and s/xual violence in detention are recognized forms of torture under international law and are among the gravest crimes under the Rome Statute and the Convention Against Torture. Torture is absolutely prohibited under international law β€” regardless of war, emergency, or national security.

Both Israel and the United States are signatories to the Convention Against Torture, which legally requires states to prevent, prohibit, investigate, and prosecute acts of torture.

The United States is also prohibited from aiding, assisting, financing, or facilitating torture through military aid, weapons transfers, intelligence sharing, or security partnerships. Instead, it has a legal obligation to end support and impose accountability measures - including sanctions - against those responsible.

We demand accountability, independent investigations, protection for detainees, an end to torture and s/xual violence in detention, and justice for every victim subjected to these crimes.

Our colleagues and fellow Palestinians are being detained, tortured, starved, denied medical care, and held without charge or due process in Israeli detention camps.

These testimonies are only a small glimpse into the horrors endured daily by healthcare workers, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, and children.

β€œI spent 25 years building a life, and now suffer from PTSD, live in a tent as a refugee, and have lost two of my children to this genocide.”

β€œMany days I was tied to a chair for 15 hours. I was not allowed to sleep, eat, or drink… I saw people dying there.”

We demand the immediate release and protection of detained healthcare workers, independent investigations into abuses in detention facilities, and unrestricted medical access for civilians in Gaza.

Silence from governments, medical institutions, and healthcare organizations is complicity.
