Well, here it is. After years in the making, I’m thrilled to share the cover of my memoir, Selfish.

I thought I was going to write a self-helpy memoir about entrepreneurship and motherhood and marriage, but instead I wrote about a complicated woman (me) who, after years putting everyone first, started to rebel against meeting other people's needs, and instead focused on meeting my own.

This book explores many things: complicated family dynamics, purpose and passion, ghosts, creativity, longing, escapism, and bad bedtime stories. It also explores what happens when we stop being good, and instead, tell the truth.

I can't wait till we can talk about it together.

Selfish releases April 21, 2026 and you can pre-order now at the link in my bio. I love you 🌺

It is no understatement to say that the best thing (to me personally) that has come out of @fahertybrand is our long term partnerships and friendships with Native artists. It has shaped how I think about the world, about the harm of appropriation, about the truth of Native erasure in American history, about the vast richness and resiliency of Native culture, and about envisioning a world where Native leaders are centered at the forefront of thought leadership for our collective future.

The goodness that has been cultivated from these relationships and the beautiful pieces we co-create is based in a deep reciprocity, and I often feel that WE are the recipients of generosity of spirit instead of the other way around. Do you know that the number one reason shared in interviews as to why people want to work at Faherty is because of these partnerships?

As I say at the brand time and time again, we need each and are better together. 🦋❤️🙏

Thank you @incmagazine for sharing these types of meaningful stories around fashion and to @jbettcomm for believing these are the type of fashion stories that are worth sharing.

Sea glass hunting escapades: confirming I did not find a red, but I've never seen a collection quite like his. (I may or may not have been gifted 3 small reds and yellows, which means I am now officially a sea glass billionaire so when crypto fails and we pay in glass, I GOT YOU)

“Do you think I’m a good mom?”

For the mothers who still want more, @kerrydocherty’s memoir SELFISH offers a relatable, yet thought-provoking look at fierce love, underlying tensions, and the longing to explore every part of yourself.

An oldie (but still relevant) Mother's Day ditty for @lisasdocherty. Thanks for teaching me about Oprah, psychics, John O' Donahue, passive aggression, Enneagrams, bloody bagels, cleaning techniques, and (most importantly) the art of unconditional love. 💕

Austin-area friends! I hope you’ll join me for an event at First Light Books later this month. I’ll be in conversation with the lovely Kerry Docherty, who just came out with her debut memoir Selfish.

Docherty, who is co-founder of the Faherty clothing brand, explores key questions in her book, including: “What does it mean to be good? What are the consequences of doing what we want? Who determines what is selfish?”

We’ll explore these questions and more during our conversation, which will take place on Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. The event will include an audience Q&A and author signing.

I hope you’ll join us! (Registration link in bio.)

In 2009, I walked by a traditional looking church in East Village with rainbow flags strewn across glass stained windows, a gospel choir belting out James Brown, and @revjacquilewis at the pulpit wearing knee high black boots and red lipstick talking about what radical love looks like and I thought ...huh, maybe this is a type of church I would actually want to go to?

Jacqui (and her husband John) have been such beacons to me showing how faith, social justice, and anti-racism intertwine. She married @fahertyalex and me in 2012, baptized 1/2 my babies (sorry Riggs, one day we'll get around to it), and then, in a strange, kismet coincidence, a decade later we would share the same incredible editor @cochranmarnie for our memoirs. (Jacqui's book is titled Fierce Love)

All this to say, in a world that can sometimes feel painful and broken, spiritual muses like Jacqui remind us all to dig into some righteous rage, bold action, fiery love, and belt out "prayers" like "I FEEL GOOD." 🎶

This week we’re diving into Selfish, the raw and revealing memoir by @kerrydocherty mother and co-founder of @fahertybrand.We unpack radical honesty, telling the full truth about your life without people pleasing, and the tension that comes with being fully seen. Including why sharing your truth can upset people, and how to navigate that discomfort in relationships.⁣

We explore reclaiming the word “selfish” as a tool for self worth and aliveness, the burnout of overgiving, and what happens when you lose yourself trying to keep everyone else happy. We also get into self reflection, living more expansively, and the cycle of wounding and healing in relationships. Everything we LOVE talking about!⁣

Listen wherever you get your podcasts!⁣
