Rob Petit’s incredible film adaptation of Robert Mac Farlane’s best seller “Underland” is really exceptional and we had a fab night in @barbicancentre for the premiere.
It is a very beautiful score by @hannahpeelmusic and it was my great pleasure to mix.
Also lovely to catch up with (pictured)
Steve @randommusicmgmt
Hamish @first_artists_management
@hannahpeelmusic (of course)
And @dave.malkin
Congrats to all the brilliant team on that film -nice to meet so many of you last night. In cinemas Friday - (original soundtrack release also Friday)

“A piece that blooms like the first signs of Spring…” 🌱
A massive thanks to @bbcradio3 - Soundwaves and presenter @afrodeutsche for playing the title track from my EP Tenalach this week.It means a lot to hear this music reach new listeners.
From the soft droning of analog electronics grows the warm clarinet tones of @thebencastle and the strings of The Budapest Scoring Orchestra (@budapestscoring). Like new light returning after winter, a micro-fugue grows into something luminous.
A beautiful playlist to be part of and thanks to R3 producer Rebecca Greasdale for the support.Streaming now on @bbcsounds

It was a year ago this week myself and @hannahpeelmusic had a lot of fun traipsing around Glasgow working on HP’s score for “Midwinter Break”. A beautiful new film by Polly Findlay and starring Ciaran Hinds and Lesley Manville we can all see in cinemas soon. The soundtrack is out today. Thanks to HP and brilliant music team on this for having me as score producer and mixer -you can see how much craic we were in @gorbalssound by flicking right 😂M x

Thank you for all the lovely messages regarding my track ‘Continuum Emission’ on BBC Radio 3 last week (Night Tracks)
I began writing this piece before my mother passed away almost 5 years ago, but by the time it was finished it had quietly become a kind of requiem for her.
The morning after she died, I woke early in our family home in my native Donegal, having travelled the previous night. As the morning came in, men arrived outside - with lawnmowers and trimmers, doing all that they knew to do in anticipation of a wake.
It felt like a small, wordless act of community, the type which Donegal is famous for - a tribute almost for a woman they had great time for.
I wrote these words that morning:
“They turned up early on a Sunday morning, armed with machines that tamed and mowed.
Little engines wailed…..mourning…
a kind of two-stroke tribute…..
and I felt comforted by the industrious din and the scent of freshly cut grass.”
Despite initial reluctance to brave my own voice on the recording, the text is spoken by me over the orchestral passage - not as narration, but as memory and sound, giving it geography and presence, passing briefly through the music before dissolving back into it.
Thanks to everyone that listened and continues to.

Well that was one way to end an epic year of music.
@asiwyfa_music represent everything I feel is important about music life -an unwavering commitment to their artform, somehow transcendent of their genre and all with a sense of community and togetherness that they navigate with ease a humility. It was an honour to play a part in their 20th anniversary celebrations let alone be entrusted with creating these orchestral arrangements of their extensive back catalog (a “small job” that ultimately became a 276 page orchestral score of 2 volumes). A project I eventually codenamed : “Set Bassoons to Kill”.
My sincere thanks to the gentlemen that are Rory, Niall, Ewen & Chris for allowing me to share the stage on such and epic night for them.
Just a few thanks from a personal viewpoint to the players, management and staff of The Ulster Orchestra who continue to prove their vision and leadership in the breaking of barriers for the music community in Northern Ireland and the creation of an orchestra that serves the whole musical community here.
Thanks to conductor Paul Campbell @studioorchestrations
Thanks to @kt_rich_music and her unstoppable choir, orchestra leader Oscar and the many others in the crew and further afield I can’t get in to mentioning as the list runs too deep.
Watching my dear friend Rory Friers on his knees on The Ulster Hall floor (see clip) playing guitar amidst the most respectful mosh pit you can imagine while accompanied by the explosive might of the Ulster Orchestra in the greatest of atmospheres is a moment in my musical life that I will treasure.
Thank you @asiwyfamusic and congratulations on 20 years.
Thank you @ulsterorchestra and congratulations on your first real life mosh pit :)
Happy Christmas all and see you all in 2026.

Continuum Emission - a piece about the quiet forces that shape us over time, the subtle currents we barely notice until they’ve shifted our entire landscape through loss and renewal.
