The previous 180 years have helped shape us into the prestigious university that we are today.
🛑 Our researchers continue to make ground-breaking discoveries every day.
🛑 Our students continue to thrive in class while going above-and-beyond doing the things they love, such as representing their country in the Olympics, starting their own businesses or winning film awards.
🛑 Our university continues to top world rankings while making world-class education accessible to people from a range of backgrounds.
What’s your favourite thing about Queen’s? Leave a comment and let us know. #LoveQUB180

What will the next 180 years bring for Queen’s? 🤔
Well, we can’t quite see that far into the future but we know for certain our graduates will still be shaping the world we live in. But for now, here are a few things we’re aiming to achieve in the near future:
🛑 We’re going to continue our commitment of being a diverse and inclusive university by strengthening our partnerships and collaborations across the globe.
🛑 We’re going to provide an education that inspires future generations.
🛑 We’re going to drive social change and transition to a zero-carbon society.

What happens when research inspires real-world action?
When female members of @rcitybelfast took part in a study exploring their lived experience of gender based violence and harassment, an idea was sparked to create an interactive resource to highlight the topic.
The result was the SHE: Building and Leading game, a Jenga-style puzzle where each piece invites participants to answer a question or provides easily accessible information about a subject to boost understanding of why violence occurs and to reinforce positive steps everyone can take to help women and girls feel, and be, safe everywhere.
Amazing work, everyone!

“My focus on dementia and older people’s care began during my very first placement. I quickly realised how much I valued supporting people at vulnerable moments and helping to improve their quality of life.
“I had always known I wanted a career where I could help people. From a young age, I was described as caring, and I naturally gravitated towards older people—taking the time to talk, listen, and really get to know them. Nursing felt like the right path to turn that into something meaningful.
“During my undergraduate studies I identified a gap in dementia education and, with the support of the fantastic staff at Queen’s, helped introduce new dementia training for nursing and medical students. That experience strengthened my confidence, developed my understanding of dementia care, and showed me the impact education can have on both students and practice.
“With an ageing population, dementia and older people’s care are areas where more support, education and advocacy are urgently needed. It is a field I feel genuinely passionate about and privileged to work in.
“My work is shaped directly by people living with dementia and those who care for them. I believe this is the foundation of good practice: listening first, understanding what matters most, and developing work that reflects real-life needs.
“I work closely with local charities and global communities to ensure my research and education are grounded in real-world practice. People living with dementia are the experts in their own experiences, and their involvement makes the work more meaningful, relevant and impactful.
“I hope my work makes a difference by improving education, raising awareness and supporting better care.
“Dementia can affect any of us, and we all have a part to play. My hope is that through education, research and collaboration, we can continue to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.”
You certainly are making a difference, Dr Craig. Thanks so much for sharing your story.
