This place is nothing short of magical. Thank you, Hutch, for opening my eyes to a corner of the planet that’s so deeply connected to your heart — and now, forever, to mine.

For over two decades, Brian Kraft and his incredible team at the Alaskan Sportsman’s Lodge have stood on the front lines, protecting this wilderness from the proposed Pebble Mine — a threat that could erase an entire ecosystem and the world’s greatest salmon run.

Because of their passion and perseverance, I was able to witness the wild heart of Alaska — untouched, untamed, and alive. I’ll never forget the feeling of being in a place where nature still rules, and where people are fighting every day to keep it that way.

The best lessons I’ve ever learnt in life is a direct result from failure. This guy finished third in his first race @sgemcc , then crashed on the first corner of the second race and was clear last… so far off the back from a field of 40 riders. I could see he was injured as he struggled to pick up his bike - but he went on to fight his way through the pack from dead last to finish in 5th place - then 4th overall on the day.
I’m so proud to have witnessed how you handled that situation, @steelmcmi11an . You reminded me that how we respond to failure truly reveals our character.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been instrumental in guiding him and shaping this kid.
