“Longevity” has been the buzziest of beauty and wellness buzzwords lately but we certainly haven’t seen it play out with as much magic as it does at the new @esteelauder Skin Longevity Institute at @altagraciaauberge, a resort in Costa Rica’s Talamanca mountains. You won’t be assessed or optimized. There are no NAD drips or diagnostic tests. There is a cold plunge but it involves scrambling over rocks and it’s in the Calientillo River. (You exfoliate with fresh coffee grounds first and float in a fire-warmed pool after.) Workouts include climbing a ficus tree and hiking to a waterfall. The Skin Longevity Institute hosts beauty and wellness practitioners for residencies; on a recent trip, they were “mind coach” Manjit Devgun @manjit.devgun and aesthetician @crystalgreenestudio, because of course there are also amazing facials to be had. They include Estée Lauder’s ReNutriv products, sculpting massage, and LED therapy but also a guided meditation created by Devgun, who offers her own sessions in sound healing, hypnosis, and breathwork and will send you back to Real Life with a whole new body-calming tool kit. Also on the menu: food from the resort’s gardens and the best pour-overs you’ve ever had. 🎥 @jbailly

It was a complete honor to bepart of #UNGA last week and moderate a panel at the SDG Media Zone about how the fashion and beauty industries can reject greenwashing and rewrite narratives around aspiration and consumption. Make no mistake: These are industries that have done our planet few favors – and the fashion industry is not on track to meet its sustainability targets. But they’re also industries that are pretty damn brilliant at telling beautiful, compelling stories that inspire and influence.

Happy Best of Beauty Day to all who celebrate! As I approach 10 years at @allure (not counting a little mid-aughts run), I marvel at the strength and longevity of this annual phenomenon (really the best word for it). Beauty awards may be multiplying like 🐰🐰🐰 today but when @lindawellsny decided to actually say “these are the best beauty products right now” back in 1996 it was a wild concept. (But… you can’t pick favorites! What will the advertisers say!)

Best of Beauty now lives and breathes across so many platforms, most of which didn’t exist 27 years ago. (And, for the first time ever, there’s a consumer event coming next month!) It’s lifted up so many amazing new brands, connected so many founders to us and each other, and it’s helped so many shoppers make smart decisions about what’s going to really and truly work for them… which is the ultimate goal.

And it’s produced by just the BEST team: Beauty editors who bring many decades of experience to the process of testing across what has become a massive landscape of beauty products. And creatives and producers who mastermind visual and digital experiences that give the winners the star treatment they deserve. 💫 #allurebestofbeauty
