Hi yall

In my community highlight + stories I’ll be sharing some easy click GoFundme’s of people/businesses/schools who’ve been deeply impacted by the horrendously devastating fires happening in Los Angeles. —>They continue to burn + we have 3 upcoming wind events this coming week.

To my LA community please DM me links to others that need funding + I’ll contribute and reshare to amplify. Especially for folks who don’t have a large social media presence, need more help and most notably the Black elders and families who’ve shaped the historically Black neighborhood of Altadena for generations.

Altadena is very close to our home. We took our son to outdoor forest school in the area, have so many beloved friends and were often in this community basking in the serene beauty + its proximity to the mountains. It was and is a treasured loving community filled with an eclectic mix of wonderful people who appreciated the quiet reprieve it offered from the city of LA.

Images of devastation + fires ablaze is what’s mostly been circulating. What’s not been shown much is the beauty of all communities in LA coming together to help each other. People volunteering, donating supplies, saving lost animals, offering any space they have for displaced families to have a place to sleep. I feel so deeply proud of this and it’s a good reminder how interdependent we really are on eachother despite the human/American illusion of independence. We need eachother and are so deeply tethered to our environments.

The other thing that’s not being shown is the long term psychological effect of these events. The nervous system disregulation, mental and physical health. Once folks who’ve lost everything have sorted through getting basic needs like shelter, food and clothes this will be likely be the last thing that gets attention and perhaps the most important of all. The imprint of these events will be deep and stick with us.

Thank you to the fierce-hearted firefighters who’ve come from all over, first responders and community leaders that are working tirelessly to help us all.
