Stoked we got around to documenting this one! Last year we worked with the @banditrunning team to develop an “anti brand” for their Unsponsored Project. Our challenge was to create an ID for the project that felt anti-corporation and represented the absence of a brand.

The Unsponsored Project aims to solve a gap in professional running, where competitors train at elite levels, but receive no compensation from the brands whose gear they wear during competition. Bandit supplies micro contracts that allow athletes to chase their dreams, and ultimately to help athletes get their best shot at securing a larger brand sponsorship deal. By giving athletes unbranded blacked out kits to compete in they do not have to rep companies and are indicating to these same brands they are open to sponsorship deals.

Many athletes who are forced to wear apparel from companies they do not have contracts with will tape over the logos. Building on this mentality we created a mark and then taped, painted, and obscured it beyond recognition, putting the focus back on the athletes.

New work! Brand identity for @aoka_official , a new combat sports brand based in Brooklyn, New York, aiming to bring a different perspective to the space. Rather than focusing on aggression and brute force, Aoka draws inspiration from the serene power of the natural world and the meditative mind. Much more to come on this as the brand grows, major shoutout to @samuelcolonna , @the_kwongster, and @dun.cs for the trust on this one.

An in-depth look at the LED video wall included in Bandit’s NYC Marathon pop-up.

The piece is a visceral training simulation through the eyes of the runner. We used a first person POV to collage together gritty scenes from the five boroughs, overlayed with abstract representations of the race’s mental challenges.

The 12’x15’ screen served as a massive focal point within the experience, drawing guests through ‘Run City’.

We teamed up with @banditrunning this last October to bring their ‘Run City’ NYC Marathon collection to life through an immersive pop-up experience.

Working closely with the Bandit creative team and @yallaimshi we designed and built a dystopian city street, allowing people to feel the psychological, gritty intensity of New York as an iconic marathon backdrop.

The project had many components, including: creative direction, spatial design, motion graphics, graphic application, custom typography, and more. The pop-up ran through marathon weekend in Soho at 489 Broome St.

🚨New one for @nike / @nikenyc 🚨

With the recent reopening of Nike’s NYC flagship on 5th Ave we were tasked with designing a quick turn capsule collection exclusive to the store, highlighting hyperlocal NYC sport and culture. It sold out too quick for us to even get our hands on it 😅

Custom graphics, bespoke type treatments and illustrations, etc, will share a closer look at the tees soon.
