Friday evening at @elasticarts in Chicago AND LIVESTREAM - Bangladeshi composer and sound artist Teerath Majumder (@teerathm0) presents an immersive audiovisual work that was born out of his recent experiments with tabla, electronics, spatialization, and audio-reactive projection and lights.
With this project, Majumder continues pushing the boundaries of spatial sound art by utilizing the CLEAT system, allowing him the use of physical space for various synthesis techniques and effects processing. He unlocks new modes of expression through the tabla as it affects generative processes and visual components.
Glimpses of his latest album "Dust to Dust" are sewn into the performance. celebrates the release of Dust To Dust, his recent solo album on Infrequent Seams.

Dust To Dust by Teerath Majumder @teerathm0 is now out!
Multifaceted visions of embodied human -electronic processes.

Dust to Dust is now out on Bandcamp and your streaming platform. Link in the bio.
Making this album has been revitalizing. A great deal happened in the last two years that brought me some clarity about what it means to be alive. But not without inflicting significant suffering first. There were a few times in the process when I couldn't find the motivation to reach the finish line. As creatives often experience, self doubt and perfectionism got in the way of natural expression. Meanwhile, I found my attention stretched between personal losses and scores of national and international calamities. If anything, that situation has only become worse with another imperialist forever war in progress right now. All of it leaves me wondering whether human rights and wellbeing will ever leave the bottom tier of our priorities.
In the midst of it all, the simple act of making art may seem meaningless, too trivial. I believe it is not a substitute for social and political action. We still need to speak up in clear, unequivocal language, protest, push back against the machine. At the same time, we need to listen to our inner being, help her, channel her disappointment, frustration, rage and confusion into something beautiful. Because we live to experience such beauty, the beauty in creation, appreciation, friendship, love, helping someone we don't know, being helped by someone we don't know. That's the reason I still make music.
I hope you will take some time to listen to the entire album. I promise, you will find something that touches you.
