ArtWorks: Richmond Arts Strategy 2026–2031 ⤵️

📝 Reminder! Richmond-based artists are encouraged to submit proposals for the 2026 No. 3 Road Art Columns Program, Part II, on display from August 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027. Three commissioned artists will each receive an artist fee of $1,500 for four print-ready digital artwork files. This opportunity is relevant to artists residing in Richmond with practices in mixed media, painting, illustration, photography, printmaking, drawing and other media.

About the Presenters:
Ilena Cramer (@ilenaleecramer) is a multi-disciplinary artist, teacher, writer, designer and lifelong student of ceramics and clay. She studied ballet in Russia during Perestroika, received an arts degree in Alaska, made pottery in the mountains of Mexico, and has created many plays around the world. Her current practice finds local landscape, environment and materials encountering myth, story and history.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Sophie Slater (@_mothersnake) is an arts administrator, market organizer, and textiles artist based in the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations in Vancouver. Sophie’s artistic practice explores natural dyeing, quilting, and basketry. With five years experience organizing craft fairs, and working as Operations Manager at artist-run centre Western Front since 2023, she leads Toque Craft Fair every December.
Toque Craft Fair (@toquecraftfair) is an annual holiday market and community fundraiser benefiting Western Front (@western_front), a non-profit artist-run centre in Mount Pleasant. Welcoming over 5,000 visitors each year, Toque features a curated selection of artists, craftspeople, and designers—showcasing the very best of what’s made in BC. Spread across two floors of Western Front’s heritage building, the fair invites you to shop from over sixty artists and connect with the creativity rooted in our community.

🦉🎨 Calling all artists! The Richmond Public Art Program invites artists residing in B.C. to submit applications to be placed on the Community Mural Artist Roster for 2026–2028.
The Community Mural Artist Roster is updated biannually and provides a list of pre-qualified artists to work with community groups, business or property owners, schools, and private developers proposing murals on their buildings.
