🔗 in-bio to my new video KĀLĪ 🖤
Dark skin is not a flaw, KĀLĪ is a statement celebrating south Asian skin and blackness. I wrote the song to reclaim the word “kālī,” which is often used as a pejorative term for dark-skinned people, deeply ingrained beauty standards of South Asia,
something I was called throughout my childhood and adulthood, I want to celebrate it as a symbol of beauty, strength, and divinity.
Chorus is, ‘I am KĀLĪ’ 🔥

Had a blast, whilst being 7 months pregnant, making this beautiful piece of work collaboratively

About her latest album KĀLĪ, Rolling Stone India wrote: ,... Ditty’s positivity is her real strength, even if the topics she explores on KALI are sometimes bleak’. Ditty is an Indian-born, Berlin-based songwriter, poet, and urban ecologist whose practice bridges music, activism, and politics of care. Her commitment to climate action is reflected in pioneering projects such as Make Forests Not War — India’s first carbon-neutral tour — as well as strategic collaborations with environmental organisations including Greenpeace, Viva con Agua, and the Rockefeller Foundation. She has opened for Mighty Oaks and When Chai Met Toast, and has performed at festivals including Reeperbahn Festival, Fusion, Even Flow, WOW Music Festival London, and Immergut. Her music has also been featured in film and television, with sync placements in Cycle of Love by Oscar-winning filmmaker Orlando von Einsiedel, as well as Little Things (Netflix).

We’re very excited to have the wonderful @heyyditty on stage, with drummer @andi.haberl. Ditty also contributed a live version of the song ‘Azadi’ to our new compilation, tapes will be available at the release party 🍉

In the words of Ditty: ‘We live in a post-war, post colonial world, however, the world is at war. Normalisation of war is an unforgivable violence we are imposing on ourselves. Genocide against people continues, and also continues a huge war on natural resources, on water and oil. Hyper capitalism and dictatorship and billionaires are celebrated. Before our children can live, we have robbed them of clean water, unpolluted air, health, freedom and peace.’
