Kom kunst kijken, voetballen en ‘derde helften’ tijdens de opening op vrijdag 24 april, of daarna t/m 6 juni. Elke zaterdag van 12:00-17:00 en zondag van 10:00-15:00.

𝘦𝘯𝘨 – Over the past weeks, Elen Braga, William Ludwig Lutgens and Karina Beumer have been working on new art for the exhibition ‘H.S.B. hot, social, brutal’ at football club V.V.K.
Come by to see art, play football and join the ‘third half’ during the opening on Friday, April 24, or anytime until June 6. The exhibition is open every Saturday from 12:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 15:00.

Pilot ’26 has officially started! This year’s participants are Annabel Quick, Scott van Kampen Wieling, Graciela Gonzalez, Djordi Komrij, Enzy Jhang and Karolina Wilting.

Over the coming months, they will take part in a practical learning program focused on developing and professionalizing their artistic practice. Guided by artists and cultural institutions, the participants will explore different perspectives, working methods, and approaches within the field. The program will conclude with a site-specific project week. More details to follow!

“It was the first day of the pilot program, we started off with an introduction round and a photoshoot. The instructions were clear: smile, serious, smile serious. Afterwards we had lunch together and talked about hobbies, as this is het resort’s theme this year. We headed to the football field with artist Karina Beumer where we met Henk from V.V.K. and did some warming up exercises. Moving the body together and playing against each other broke the ice; what was at first shy and awkward turned into a playful, spirited energy. Then we each got allocated one participant for whom we made a trophy out of cardboard. It was a cute moment of playing again, this time with cardboard while listening to Henk’s music. The award ceremony was followed by eating fries that Henk prepared for us. It was a wholesome day and I felt like a child again.

The next day we walked around Groningen and visited art spaces such as NP3, SIGN and ArtisBook. Walking around Groningen had a tranquil vibe and each space had its own character and motivation. We ended with a beer next to Minerva Art Academy in the sun.”

“It was the first day of the pilot program, we started off with an introduction round and a photoshoot. The instructions were clear: smile, serious, smile serious. Afterwards we had lunch together and talked about hobbies, as this is het resort’s theme this year. We headed to the football field with artist Karina Beumer where we met Henk from V.V.K. and did some warming up exercises. Moving the body together and playing against each other broke the ice; what was at first shy and awkward turned into a playful, spirited energy. Then we each got allocated one participant for whom we made a trophy out of cardboard. It was a cute moment of playing again, this time with cardboard while listening to Henk’s music. The award ceremony was followed by eating fries that Henk prepared for us. It was a wholesome day and I felt like a child again.

The next day we walked around Groningen and visited art spaces such as NP3, SIGN and ArtisBook. Walking around Groningen had a tranquil vibe and each space had its own character and motivation. We ended with a beer next to Minerva Art Academy in the sun.”

Over the coming months, they will take part in a practical learning program focused on developing and professionalizing their artistic practice. Guided by artists and cultural institutions, the participants will explore different perspectives, working methods, and approaches within the field. The program will conclude with a site-specific project week. More details to follow!

𝘯𝘭 – Voor de expositie H.S.B. hot, social, brutal verbleven kunstenaars Elen Braga, Karina Beumer en William Ludwig Lutgens twee maanden in Groningen om speciaal voor voetbalvereniging V.V.K. nieuwe werken te maken. Om een kijkje achter de schermen te krijgen vroeg het resort filmmaker Lucas Boerwinkel een video te maken waarin hij zijn eigen perspectief op de werkperiode van de kunstenaars toont.

To offer a glimpse behind the scenes, het resort invited filmmaker Lucas Boerwinkel to produce a video presenting his own perspective on the artists’ working period.

The New Goal, een sculptuur van staal en net, bestaat uit twee vervormde voetbaldoelen die samen één onmogelijke constructie vormen. Wat normaal een vast eindpunt is, wordt instabiel: een doel dat niet op één eenduidige manier benaderd kan worden.
Door twee doelframes samen te voegen tot een vervormd geheel, herdenkt The New Goal wat het betekent om te scoren. Het werk bevraagt gangbare opvattingen over competitie en nodigt spelers en toeschouwers uit om spel, samenwerking en de sociale betekenissen die we aan sport toekennen opnieuw te overwegen.

Figures positioned along the edges of the space direct their gaze toward the visitor. A play of positions emerges: who is looking, and who is being looked at? And what does it mean to be placed in a category?

In haar werk draait Beumer het perspectief om. Waar je eerst naar spelers kijkt, word je nu zelf bekeken. Langs de randen van de ruimte richten figuren hun blik op de bezoeker. Een spel van posities ontstaat: wie kijkt, en wie wordt bekeken? En wat betekent het om in een hokje geplaatst te worden?

𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕
On Monday, May 18, studium resort will be dedicated to the hobby of playing board games. That evening, visual artist and scenographer Maze de Boer will be a guest. During the program 𝘙𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘞𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵, we explore how play is not only a subject, but also a way of working, thinking, and seeing.

The evening opens with a conversation between host Ellis Kat and De Boer about his practice and about play as a creative driving force. What role do board games play in his way of working? And how does the tension between rules and freedom translate into his artworks?

The second part of the evening consists of a workshop in the form of a collective board game session. Participants are invited to invent, adapt and test rules themselves using different game boards from De Boer’s ‘Play’ series.

𝘯𝘭 – Tijdens de opening van ‘H.S.B. hot, social, brutal’ kreeg het veld van voetbalclub V.V.K. een andere invulling. Waar anders wedstrijden worden gespeeld, was nu een performance van Elen Braga te zien en kon er met ballen op de werken van William Ludwig Lutgens worden geschoten. In de aankomsthal werd je omringd door de spelers van Karina Beumer haar werk, en in de kantine speelde de film die ze maakte tijdens de wedstrijd tussen Dames 1 en Dames 2.

𝘦𝘯𝘨 – During the opening of ‘H.S.B. hot, social, brutal’, the field of football club V.V.K. took on a different role. Where matches are usually played, a performance by Elen Braga took place, and visitors could kick balls at the works of William Ludwig Lutgens. In the entrance hall, you were surrounded by the players from Karina Beumer’s work, while in the canteen her film - made during the match between the women’s teams (Dames 1 and Dames 2) - was shown.

Na een residentie van bijna twee maanden presenteerden Karina Beumer, Elen Braga en William Ludwig Lutgens hun nieuwe werken bij lokale voetbalclub V.V.K. Voor de eerste helft verzamelden bezoekers zich in de kantine van de voetbalclub. Curator Elles Hesseling opende de tentoonstelling en om fijne samenwerkingen te vieren werden clubsjaals en voetbalshirts uitgewisseld.

The evening opened with a screening of her film The Shadow Workers, in which a pigeon, acting as narrator, guides the viewer through a dreamlike world that moves between fiction and documentary. In conversation with host Ellis Kat, Pompe spoke about her fascination with birds as a mirror of human behavior, and about how a hobby that develops into work does not always stem from a clear passion, but can also emerge simply out of circumstance.

The evening concluded with a workshop in which participants drew a taxidermied bird using charcoal. By drawing a bird, a portrait of a person emerged, as if they were transformed into a duck, pheasant, or another bird-like alter ego.

The evening concluded with a workshop in which participants drew a taxidermied bird using charcoal. By drawing a bird, a portrait of a person emerged, as if they were transformed into a duck, pheasant, or another bird-like alter ego.
