What a dream - my new short She Always Wins will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
She Always Wins is about power: it’s about giving it up because you know that if you don’t, it will be taken by force. It’s about making yourself small so your partner feels big, because that’s what is required to keep the peace. I spent most of my 20s in a relationship with these dynamics and wanted to capture a feeling that I couldn’t yet verbalize through the making of this film.
I am honored to begin sharing She Always Wins with audiences at @tiff_net next month. Every aspect of bringing this film to life was a roller coaster and I deeply appreciate the hard work of the stellar cast and crew who made it happen.

baby’s first feature credit! it was an absolute joy editing Shan’s debut Ephemera. we worked side by side between our Brooklyn apartments, fueled by takeout and tea and often hiding from the snowy weather outside - so basically a dream first feature collaboration.
