Welcome to Medellín.
I guess it’s a good a time as any to share photos from my own wedding weekend (!!), all taken by my incredible friend, idol, and mentor Joanna Brown @joannabrownstudio
So, diving into night 1:
The first night, we brought everyone to Museo de Antioquia for a guided tour of Fernando Botero’s work. His paintings and sculptures shaped the entire visual language of our wedding, and we wanted our guests to encounter them in person before anything else.
Botero was born in Medellín. You’ve seen his work, figures stretched into exaggerated proportions, saturated color, surreal sense of scale,
His work exists in a universe entirely its own.
That sense of world building has stayed with me for years. Designing the wedding around it felt instinctive.
For many of our guests traveling from the US, this weekend was also an introduction to Colombia.
We wanted that intro to not just be the stereotypes of a country so often portrayed by US media and film, but as the place we know. One where our family is, where there is a flourishing art scene, where there is beauty, where there is magic✨💙
