Before Hector died, we sat in his family cemetery underneath the dawn redwoods he planted decades earlier. “It’s a nice idea, isn’t it,” he said, “to have your bones cradled by the roots of an old tree…..”

Hope and grief.
Returning to the earth.
Love and miss you Hector.

Made entirely of recycled paper and cardboard, this elephant puppet was crafted for a workshop performance of Carnival of the Nearly Extinct Animals, and is designed to be dismantled and recycled after the performance. #zerowaste #recycledart #circularity

The scarecrows were woven in workshops with @highlineteens High Line Teen Fellows and crafted using High Line plant material lovingly gathered by volunteers and High Line horticulturalists. After their weeklong appearance on the High Line, the plant material was composted and the wire frame was recycled. I do love a zero waste public art project! And working with all that gorgeous plant material?! Swoon!💀💀💀💀
