A new toy! It’s a Singer Featherweight 221; a 78-year old portable sewing machine that measures about 9” tall by 10” long and (I’m told) is one of the finest sewing machines ever made. They are prized by quilters for their beautiful stitching. It does just one thing, but does it really well. I’ve been looking for one for a while, and finally I found someone selling what looks like a well cared for one on Etsy. I’m glad to have joined the Featherweight Club!

Gluten free Pumpkin Cheesecake for Thanksgiving: It's the first cheesecake I’ve ever made without the dreaded cheesecake crack in it! Made yesterday because the the recipe says it’s best when refrigerated overnight. The crust is a bit wonky, and it’s still sitting on the bottom of the springform pan because I was afraid I’d mangle it by sliding it off onto the plate. Didn't want to tempt fate😂 Can’t wait to slice it open to see how it turned out. Recipe from the fabulous @preppykitchen.❤️ Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

This weekend's bake: A miracle in carbohydrate form! I took an online gluten free bread baking class from @kingarthurbaking and this is the result: Behold the Boule! This is the first gluten free bread I've ever made that isn't like a doorstop; it looks, feels and tastes like *real* bread! It's not perfectly round, but who cares! Big thanks to King Arthur instructor Jessica Meyers!
