🎤🎬 HIP HOP CINE STATION — RECAP

On May 15th, while Hip Hop CineFest was happening in Italy @hiphopcinefest_org and Kenya was preparing its next stop @hiphopgrad , another Hip Hop station came alive in Algiers.

A cinematic Hip Hop journey full of discussions, connections, memories, resistance, passion, and culture.

We screened Break The Siege by @giuliachimp , followed by a discussion around Hip Hop as a tool of resistance, soft power, and human connection beyond borders and unjust politics.

We then traveled to East Africa with ASILI: Creative Voices, Swahili Rhythms, followed by a live call with director @la_zittt , where discussions explored Panafricanism, Hip Hop history, and the bridges connecting African cultures and movements.

The night ended with Rap Before The Exam by @zd4_officiel , a short movie inspired by his real story with rap. A passionate and honest cinematic vision that made the audience laugh, react, vibe, and reconnect with Algerian Hip Hop stories on screen again.

But the real spirit of the night appeared after the screenings were over.
No stage.
No distance.
Just a circle of Hip Hop heads, artists, rappers, filmmakers, and people exchanging ideas, memories, and visions about culture, community, and the future of Hip Hop in Algeria.

And somewhere between those conversations, the night naturally turned into freestyles in the streets of Algiers.

Another Hip Hop station marked history at @elmahatta_ , Different realities. One spirit.
That’s the real Hip Hop.

Screening of BREAK THE SIEGE during HIP HOP IS KNOWLEDGE: Night at the Museum on Friday March 20, 2026 in Groningen.

This 2014 documentary, directed by Giulia Giorgi a aims to provide a snapshot of the contemporary Palestinian hip-hop scene, notable for its incredible growth and international resonance. The documentary was filmed during the international project "Hip Hop Smash The Wall," organized by Assopace Palestina, which brings together hip-hop artists from Palestine and Italy such as Coez, Lucci, Kento, and Gojo.


Hip Hop Cinefest is coming to Groningen for the very first time, presenting a curated selection from its internationally renowned catalogue during HIP HOP IS KNOWLEDGE: Night at the Museum. Founded in Italy, Hip Hop Cine Fest is a unique event and one of only three festivals worldwide dedicated entirely to cinema connected to Hip Hop culture.
