My initial plan was to respond to underwater material and my choice fell on Posidonia Oceanica, seagrass. [FR] Dans le cadre de lโexposition DRAW(), nous accueillerons Annika Boll ( @fannika____ ) pour une rรฉsidence autour des machines ร dessiner du 5 au 9 janvier.
Annika Boll est une artiste numรฉrique basรฉe ร Bruxelles, dont la pratique comprend les logiciels 3D, l'animation et l'installation. Elle a รฉtudiรฉ les Beaux-Arts ร la Villa Arson (Nice) et ร la Kunsthochschule Kassel, aprรจs un cursus antรฉrieur en anthropologie culturelle et en psychologie sociale.
Son travail transforme la matiรจre organique en rรฉpliques numรฉriques, un processus qu'elle qualifie avec amusement de jardinage numรฉrique (digital gardening). Elle y examine la maniรจre dont la nature est esthรฉtisรฉe, rรฉgulรฉe et technologisรฉe โ convertie en donnรฉes, en produits ou en dรฉcoration.
Pour cette rรฉsidence, Annika explorera les potentialitรฉs des machines ร dessiner ร travers deux axes de recherche: crรฉer une botanique spรฉculative en hybridant modรฉlisation 3D, scans 3D et scans low-tech; et expรฉrimenter la gรฉnรฉration de textures et motifs organiques pour rรฉvรฉler la tension visuelle entre l'irrรฉgularitรฉ du vivant et la rรฉpรฉtition mรฉcanique du numรฉrique.
[EN] As part of the DRAW() exhibition, we will be welcoming Annika Boll for a residency focused on pen plotters from January 5th to 9th.
Annika Boll ( @fannika____ ) is a Brussels-based digital artist, working across 3D software, animation and installation. She studied Fine Arts at Villa Arson Nice and Kunsthochschule Kassel, with earlier studies in cultural anthropology and social psychology.
Her work converts organic matter into digital replicas, a process she playfully describes asย digital gardening. She examines how nature is aestheticized, regulated, and technologized - turned into data, product, or decoration.
During this residency, Annika will explore the potential of drawing machines through two lines of research: creating a speculative botany by hybridizing 3D modeling, 3D scans, and low-tech scans; and experimenting with generating organic textures and patterns to reveal the visual tension between the irregularity of living things and the mechanical repetition of digital output.

As part of the first edition of the Deniz Villalariโ Ecological Transitions Artist Residency Program, Annika Boll, selected to carry out her work atK2 Urla Breathing Zone, will share her residency experience and artistic production in a presentation. Her work translates organic matter into digital copies, between visual realism and hollow artifice: A 3D scan basically is a Ghost in a Shell, an empty geometry with pictures glued on top. At K2 she combined field research of its grasslands with a speculative reconstruction of Posidonia seagrass.
