‘I tell my students that the most important thing is not the degree or what you learn, but the community that can sustain you,’ says artist Ebun Sodipo (@epastry). In À la Carte, Sodipo, Eva Langret (@evalangret), director of Frieze London, and Antonia Marsh, founder of @soft_opening, discuss the importance of peers in supporting young artists and galleries in London.
Over their dinner at @sessionsartsclub, Sodipo acknowledges the community of Black women artists and the wider community of trans women – ‘the people who give you the drive to continue to make work’. Marsh also takes the opportunity to give a shout out to the women of London’s gallery scene she considers her ‘ride or die supporters’ – Sadie Coles (@sadiecoleshq), Rózsa Farkas (@arcadiamissa), Maureen Paley (@maureenpaley) and Angelina Volk (@emalinofficial).

The three reflect on the ‘power and intimacy’ of Sodipo’s new sculptural works, what it means to be sustained and driven by London’s intergenerational community of gallerists and artists, and alternative fantasy careers.
