Outstanding Job! The various groups came together and rallied in opposition to SB17 - a bill that would have caused an unconstitutional gun ban and a choke hold on gun businesses.

Many people think they have no impact on laws or legislation but as we saw this week, grassroots activism is very powerful in creating social and political change.

When common people get involved and call their representatives:

SB17 is unconstitutional per NM law and Judiciary Committee members like @mcqueenfornm (Edgewood) and @christine4nm (Los Alamos) who are both lawyers, know it.

§ 6 Right to bear arms states:
No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.

An AR15 rifle has been commonly used in New Mexico for purposes defined and protected by the NM constitution for over 5 decades therefore CANNOT be defined as A DANGEROUS WEAPON.
