EPTDESIGN was honored to be part of the first TREEAMS (Trees + Dreams) nursery at EF Academy Pasadena and St. Mark’s School today.

Students assisted with the repotting of thirty 5-gallon trees – a combo of Coast Live Oaks (Quercus agrifolia) & California Sycamores (Platanus racemosa) – into new 15-gallon containers, where students will nurture them over the next 1–2 years before being planted in Altadena.

Because many fire impacted neighborhoods aren’t yet ready for replanting, this student-led effort creates a powerful new model for recovery of growing trees now to restore communities later.

While on campus, we also visited the Coast Live Oak planted last October in honor of Dr. Jane Goodall which serves as a living reminder that young people can turn hope into action.

At EPTDESIGN, the work behind the work is rooted in collaboration. A few times each year, our team comes together across offices to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen the relationships that shape our practice.

At our recent Cross Office in Orange County, the day blended design thinking with a bit of friendly competition - from a spaghetti tower challenge testing creativity, teamwork, and structural ingenuity to a fast-paced design charrette with a midstream team switch to keep everyone on their toes!

We wrapped the day with conversation, connection, and a little celebration (and yes, a hot sauce challenge for the brave).

At our recent Cross Office in Orange County, the day blended design thinking with a bit of friendly competition - from a spaghetti tower challenge testing creativity, teamwork, and structural ingenuity to a fast-paced design charrette with a midstream team switch to keep everyone on their toes!

We stopped by Biola University this week to check on progress at the new Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts Film Studio.

The team was out locating trees and reviewing the amphitheater, where the intricate wood deck detailing—tricky but worth it—is starting to take shape. We even spotted some local wildlife already enjoying the new trees.

And if the palm arrangement looks familiar… that’s intentional. It’s a cinematic nod to the classic film “It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.”
