Writer-director Dionne Edwards’s Pretty Red Dress is one of the most confident and impressive British feature debuts of the decade so far. As part of our ongoing Rio Forever celebrations, we’re thrilled to invite Dionne to introduce a 35mm print of one of her own favourite films - and another notable debut - the Wachowskis’ boundary-pushing neo-noir thriller Bound.

“Sparks fly when Violet (Jennifer Tilly) sets eyes on Corky (Gina Gershon) in an elevator. Violet is the girlfriend of a violent gangster, Caesar (Joe Pantoliano), while Corky is fresh out of prison and doing renovations on the apartment next door. As the two women launch into a passionate love affair, they assemble an intricate plan for Violet to escape from Caesar, with two million dollars of the mob’s money — but the important part is to make it out alive.”

Tickets available to book on the Rio site now, with the option of adding an additional £5+ donation to the support the Rio in continuing to champion independent community cinema!🎟️
