We kick off our first artist spotlight with @david__versace - a cornerstone of Magandjin sound and Australia’s underground jazz-dance continuum. We also asked David to share with us 1 track that may or not be in his bag/stick (last slide). He’s gone with “Soul Capsule - Overcome”. Check it out!

✼ David Versace ✼

been trying to think of what i want to say about Wayside, started this band 10 years ago can you believe?! such a life lesson of pushin on and rolling with it.

i hear this album differently every listen though, everyone has such a unique flare on it. we wanted it to feel fun and familiar but have a real heaviness to it

its vulnerable af… but i’ve always been drawn to albums and singers who aren’t afraid to show the whole hog. so when Jules and i started writing the vocals we really wanted to lean into that even if it was a bit epic, just sitting in it until we land on something. we aim to be a vessel for the listener to draw their own unique meaning from the music.

online i think its easy to see creatives doing their thing everyday and think ‘dope bro flame emoji’ but i’d be lying if i didn’t say it’s taken us a long time to get to this place… its really tested us as musicians and as emotional beings. we wanted to make something unique, heartfelt and honest. hope you can connect with it on some level x @firstbeige

it’s in love that we are made.
and in love we disappear.

been trying to think of what i want to say about Wayside, started this band 10 years ago can you believe?! such a life lesson of pushin on and rolling with it.

i hear this album differently every listen though, everyone has such a unique flare on it. we wanted it to feel fun and familiar but have a real heaviness to it

its vulnerable af… but i’ve always been drawn to albums and singers who aren’t afraid to show the whole hog. so when Jules and i started writing the vocals we really wanted to lean into that even if it was a bit epic, just sitting in it until we land on something. we aim to be a vessel for the listener to draw their own unique meaning from the music.

online i think its easy to see creatives doing their thing everyday and think ‘dope bro flame emoji’ but i’d be lying if i didn’t say it’s taken us a long time to get to this place… its really tested us as musicians and as emotional beings. we wanted to make something unique, heartfelt and honest. hope you can connect with it on some level x @firstbeige
