"Quand j’étais à la fac je m’étais coupé les cheveux. Même quand je m’étais coupé les cheveux, on me faisait des réflexions sur mon physique. J’avais "ça" de cheveux sur la tête (pas beaucoup) et on pouvait me dire "toi t’as pas une tête de financier". Je savais que les profs n’avaient pas le même traitement avec moi qu’avec d’autres gens, au moment où j’étais en Master et que je recherchais une entreprise pour mon alternance. Je savais que ça allait très vite me saouler de partir avec un malus d’entrée à chaque fois. J’avais assez confiance en moi, quand je passais des entretiens on m’avait parfois privilégié à des "gens lisses" qui venaient de HEC. [...] En Chine, à l’aéroport, on m’a déjà contrôlé les cheveux. Ils vérifiaient que je n’avais rien mis dans mes cheveux, ils mettaient des gants, passaient la main et le détecteur de métaux. Pendant une période, les contrôles dits aléatoires c’était tout le temps ! Allers-retours ! Ça m'est pas mal arrivé en Italie par exemple."

'When I was in college, I cut my hair. Even with a haircut, people still commented on my appearance. I had 'that much' hair on my head (but not so much), and they would say things like 'you don't look like someone who works in finance'. I knew professors didn't treat me the same as other people, especially when I was in my Master's program and looking for a company for my work-study placement. I knew I would quickly get fed up with starting with a disadvantage every time. I was quite confident; when I had interviews, I was sometimes given preference over 'smooth-looking' people who came from the best business schools. [...] In China, at the airport, they even checked my hair. They made sure I hadn't put anything in it, they put on gloves, ran their hands through it, and then used a metal detector. For a while, these so-called random checks were happening all the time! Back and forth trips! That happened to me quite a bit in Italy, for example.'
