If you’ve been staring at another therapy or wellness book and thinking “I literally cannot absorb one more lesson right now” hi, same 😅

So we’re not doing that.

We’re reading The Lost God by our favorite book girlie @sheilareadsandwrites and choosing escapism, a little chaos, and a lot more fun instead

The Burnout Book Club is your cozy chaotic corner to log off from being “on” all the time and get lost in romantasy, laugh way too hard, and talk about fictional characters like they’re real (because they are, obviously).

🗓 Next meeting: June 5th at 2pm EST

If your nervous system needs a break but your personality still wants something fun, this one is for you!

Comment “BOOK CLUB” and I’ll send you the details ✨

I am loving this new feature and had to try it out for myself! If you’re needing some creative inspiration for a fun project, tap on any of the videos 🤩 and sound on because this is probably one of my favorite sounds ever because I am, indeed, an arts and crafts ass bitch 😂

What creative projects have you been working on lately?! Share in the comments and inspire us!

✨ Reintroduction Time! ✨

If you're new here…hi, hello, and welcome to the creatively chaotic corner of the internet you didn’t know you needed. We’ve had a lot of new friends join us (almost 10,000 of you?!) recently, so it felt like a good time to share a bit more about myself!

I’m Allie Joy: forever fan of messy, playful art and showing up as our full, weird, authentic selves. 🎨🧠

I’m a Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor with a soft spot for providers, helpers, and humans who don’t quite fit the mold. I started Creatively Clinical to be a home for creative healing, passive income possibilities, and unfiltered expression, no perfection required.

Here, we celebrate:
✨ Maximalism over minimalism
🎨 Doodles over polished masterpieces
📚 Fantasy books (and towering stacks from the library)
🐈‍⬛ And two cats—Poppy + Tuna—who fully run the show

This space is for joy, scrappiness, resistance, and remembering that you are inherently creative. Your creativity doesn’t have to be productive. It doesn’t have to be pretty. It just has to be yours.

So let’s make magic, challenge systems, and stay a little weird while we do it.

Drop a 🪩 or 🤍 below if you’re here for imperfect creativity, unapologetic art, and building something better, together!

We had so much fun doing a color walk and color hunt in the city! We wanted the colors to be a surprise so I brought my paint chips with me to make it more fun 🥰

I was so surprised by how much orange I found! And @airforeffect got lucky that my dress matched perfectly 😂

Would you try this out?! What color would you want to look for?

Creative friends, it’s here!!!

The very first episode of The Creative Collective Podcast is officially out today and we are so excited to share it with you.

This space was created for the moments when creativity feels distant, intimidating, or like something you’ve somehow “lost.” We’re here to gently remind you that it’s still yours and it always has been.

In this opening episode, we’re rethinking what creativity even means and why it doesn’t have to be productive, polished, or shared to matter.

If you’ve been craving a creative community that feels softer, more honest, and actually supportive, you’re in the right place.

Listen now and don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss what’s coming next 🤍

And remember, you don’t need to be an artist to benefit from creativity and you’re welcome, as you are, in this creative community. We’re so happy you’re here!

Creativity and nature both help regulate the nervous system, which is why combining the two can feel especially grounding. When you step outside, your senses wake up. You notice texture, movement, color, sound, and light in a way that screens cannot replicate.

✏️ Take your sketchbook to the park
🌿 Collect leaves for a collage
✨ Sit on a blanket and journal
🖍️ Draw the shadows on the sidewalk
🌸 Press flowers into the pages of a book
☀️Make something small and imperfect under the sun

Creating outdoors also softens perfectionism. Nature is beautifully irregular, layered, and imperfect and your creativity is allowed to be that way too!

When was the last time you used your creativity outside?

Creative wins are not always loud, polished, or easy to post online but they are still deeply meaningful.

Every time you honor your instincts, allow yourself to experiment, or continue creating despite fear, you strengthen your relationship with your creativity. You teach yourself that your worth is not dependent on perfection, productivity, or performance.

Creativity becomes much more sustainable when it stops being about proving yourself and starts becoming a practice of curiosity, honesty, and self-connection.

Which “invisible” creative win are you celebrating today?

Raise your hand if this quote resonates with you 🙋‍♀️

In Episode 1 of The Creative Collective Podcast, we explore a moment that says so much: ask a room full of kids who’s an artist, and almost every hand goes up. Ask a room full of adults, and suddenly, most people hesitate. That shift is at the heart of this conversation, that so many of us aren’t actually lacking creativity, we’ve just been taught to question it.

In this opening episode, we invite you into a softer, more expansive way of thinking about creativity, one that belongs to everyone and grows even more powerful in community.

We share why we started this show and the space we hope it fills: moving beyond perfection and performance, and instead centering process, presence, and creating alongside others.

We also talk about:
• Why the process matters more than the product
• Creativity in everyday life
• The quiet magic of community art spaces
& so much more.

Whether you haven’t picked up a paintbrush since middle school or you create daily and still wrestle with your inner critic, you belong here. Welcome to your new creative community 🫶

🎧 Episode 1 airs Monday, May 18th!

Subscribe so you don’t miss it wherever you get your podcasts and follow along for creative inspiration, permission to play, and honest conversations about living more creatively here on Instagram

we’ve been dazzling over at @mermaidbooksct and as usual these books look amazing 🤩

i’ll never get over how these nights somehow always attract the best people. within minutes we’re all yapping and laughing like old friends 🫶

we’ve had so many people move to the area, come to meet people, and leave with new friends and it warms my heart every single time.

i’m so thankful for this sparkly little community that keeps showing up month after month. the support, the connection, the creativity, it really can’t be overstated how much we need spaces like this right now.

we are stronger when we come together and support our local communities 🤍

🎶 song inspo from @heyelizabethsu’s INCREDIBLE playlist for her millennial oracle deck (we were all singing all night 😂)

also I somehow missed filming a few other books that were done but know they were all stunninggggg!

📚 which bedazzled beauty is your fav?!
💬 would you come to a night like this? tag your local bookstore or library in the comments!
📌 save this to remind yourself to find your people

Why does collecting junk and actually junk journaling feel like two completely different hobbies sometimes 😅 @creativelyclinical has this sage advice to share:

If you have a growing pile waiting for the ‘right moment,’ this is your reminder to start simple!

Try picking a random ink color first and letting it guide your page. It takes the pressure off and turns it into a creative starting point instead of a decision spiral. Use your favorite Ranger inks to add quick color and make the process feel easy again.

Now share with us in the comments, does collecting inspire your pages or slow you down?

Supplies used:
Ranger:
-Make-It Stencils: Pegboard, Bow Lattice
-Archival Ink Pad: Beach Cruiser
-Mini Ink Blending Tool
Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Pad:  Salvaged Patina
Tim Holtz Idea-ology Stencil Sticker Book Postmarked
49 and Market Chipboard Bits
Dylusions Creative Journal
Dina Wakley MEdia Glue
Other:
Collected Junk
Scissors
Stickers

Instructions:
1. Pick a random ink color
2. Use that color to guide what you pick from your junk stash
3. Glue your choices down immediately so you don’t overthink it or rearrange too much
4. Add a quick stamp or stencil with your ink color you started with
5. Add some stickers or extra embellishments
And that’s it! Quick, simple, and not overthinking it to actually start working through your junk collection

Scrolling gives your brain constant stimulation, but creativity gives your brain participation. One keeps you consuming while the other helps you process, express, and reconnect with yourself.

When we spend too much time online, creativity can start to feel intimidating because we are constantly comparing ourselves to finished products instead of engaging with our own process. Crafting interrupts that cycle.

Even small creative acts like collaging scraps, doodling in a notebook, organizing beads, coloring, or gluing tiny rhinestones onto something completely unnecessary can help shift your nervous system out of passive consumption and back into active engagement.

You don’t need to paint the sistine chapel, just use your creativity!

What is one crafty thing you can do to replace scrolling this week?

Well creative friends, we are so excited to finally share our new project: The Creative Collective Podcast!!

Welcome to your new creative community

We know, we know the world probably has enough podcasts already, but this one feels really special to us.

This came from so many conversations about creativity, connection, and community, and the belief that you do not have to be an artist to benefit from creating. As art therapists, we care deeply about the emotional and healing side of creativity, but also about making space for play, imperfection, low-pressure making, and joy for its own sake.

If you’ve been craving inspiration, wanting to reconnect with a creative practice, or feeling curious about what creativity could look like in your life, this is for you. And if you’ve ever felt like you aren’t “creative enough,” we hope this helps shift that story.

We wanted to create conversations that go a little deeper while still feeling approachable and human. Honest conversations, creative curiosity, imperfect making, and reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that feel most alive when we create.

We’ll be talking about perfectionism, creative blocks, self-expression, courage, community, and so much more with some really wonderful creative humans along the way.

The Creative Collective Podcast launches May 18th, but you can already subscribe wherever you get your podcasts so you don’t miss the first episode!
