This workshop is dedicated to Take the MAGA Out The Zine!
Our class will be led by a phenomenal St. Pete Artist @creatingcato to share their knowledge on zine making.
A brief history on zines “American zines trace their origins to the amateur press movement of the early 20th century, when amateur printers purchased their own presses in order to produce small works concerning a specific topic or interest. Components of the amateur press movement can be seen in an often overlooked precursor to zines, the “little magazines” of the Harlem Renaissance.”

Are you tired of carrying around 3 different planners or searching for a note you put in one of your five calendar apps? Have you ever seen an elaborate Bullet Journal or BuJo spread and wished you could make one but didn’t have the time?

In this series I’ll walk you through the Bullet Journal essentials following the simple guidance from Ryder Carroll’s book that inspired the intricate designs you might have seen online. All you really need is a notebook and a pen. I’ll show you how Rapid Logging, the Future Log, Daily Log, Migration, and Collections can make the space for you to create the order, art, and clarity that you want from your life.

This was only possible because of how you showed up and supported the space and my ideas for the weekend. There were so many exciting artists so see and things to do throughout the weekend so it really warmed my heart whenever anyone came to hang out and create/vibe in the space.

I met so many cool people from near and far and you all turned a weekend in a coffee shop into a time I’ll never forget 🥹 🤗

San Francisco International Airport was not just covered with art, they had an entire museum @sfomuseum . The Women of Afrofuturism exhibit curated by Ingrid LaFleur featured holographic art and animation by Celia C Peters, Digital Art by Nettrice Gaskins, novels and records from afrofuturistic authors and musicians, words by Alisha B Wormsley that became a battle cry, and apparel by Afatasi the Artist and Professor D. Denenge Duyst-Akpem. The collection was a recounting of the creators that dared to imagine a future for black people and introduction to the artists that continue that legacy. Like Octavia Butler, the mother of Afrofuturism said: “Whether you were a part of the greater society or not, you got to write yourself in.”

Curator and multimedia artist @creatingcato brought the group show “Memories & Fortunes” to life at Bazar À La Carte Tampa by building a room where artists could pause, look back, and imagine what’s next.
