The Studio of Corning Museum of Glass
THE FUTURE OF GLASS IS HERE.
Part of the @corningmuseum campus.

We’re hiring a Studio Facilities Coordinator at The Studio! This hands-on role helps power the daily operations of one of the world’s leading glassmaking studios. In this role, you’ll work closely with instructors, students, residents, and renters while maintaining studio equipment, supporting programs, and helping create an inspiring and safe environment for our communities.
If you are passionate about glass, excel at problem-solving, and want to be a part of a creative community, we’d love to meet you! Comment “STUDIO” and we’ll DM you the link to apply. 🌟

Kit Paulson began working with glass in 2001, creating work that explores fragility, delicacy, and intricate detail. During her recent residency at The Studio, that exploration expanded into an intensive investigation of material and process through waterjet cutting.
“The residency was so wonderful, I don’t even know what to say about it. I didn’t expect it to turn into a material/process research residency but that is exactly what it ended up being. I spent a lot of time hypothesizing, identifying variables, and then testing those variables. I also learned a tremendous amount about waterjet cutting and I’m so grateful for the chance to spend all that time determining both the possibilities and the limitations of that process.” @kitpaulson
It was an honor to support this kind of focused experimentation—we’re excited to see where Kit takes this research next!

SPLAT HAND vase✋🏼🏺
Made on my last day of @corningmuseumstudio residency with @graciewhiteside
i’ve been wanting to make this Splat for a long time now and I thought…it’s my last day of the @corningmuseumstudio residency…go wild! And it came out fantastic! The residency is one of those places where you can take risks without big consequences financially. Because Glass is💲💲💲‼️
A “splat hand” is one of those stretchy sticky rubber toy hands attached to a long elastic string. You throw it at a wall, window, ceiling, or another surface and it “splats” and sticks briefly before peeling off or dangling down.
They became really popular as cheap novelty toys in the 1990s and 2000s, often sold:
* in vending machines
* at dollar stores
* in arcade prize counters
* in party favor packs
They’re usually made from a soft, gel like thermoplastic material that feels tacky or oily to help it stick.
Common names include:
* sticky hand
* splat hand
* slap hand
* sticky slap toy
A funny side effect is that they collect dust, hair, and dirt almost immediately, which is basically part of the experience.

Thank you to everyone who spent Sunday with us celebrating The Studio’s 30th birthday! 🎉 It meant so much to share this milestone together. Seeing so many artists, makers, friends, and families gathered here was a powerful reminder of what makes The Studio so special.
We were thrilled to debut our new show in The Burke Room, ‘The Studio at 30: Shaping the Future of Glass Since 1996.’ It will be on view through February 14, 2027, so there’s still plenty of time to spend with the work and stories inside.
Throughout the year, we’ll keep the celebrations rolling with special Make Your Own Glass projects and film screenings at the Ackerman Family Theater, all inspired by the creativity and energy that have shaped The Studio over the past three decades.
We’re deeply grateful for this community—for your curiosity, your creativity, and the life you bring into this space. 🌟 Here’s to 30 years of glass and to what’s next!

We’re already missing @holly.anne.hooper at The Studio! 🥹🪸🌅
During her residency, Holly explored layered color to evoke moments like sunrise and sunset, while developing repeating fractal patterns inspired by British folklore. These investigations grew into new large-scale, wall-based compositions that pushed her practice in exciting directions!
“I had the most incredible time at The Studio. The whole team went above and beyond to support what I was trying to do, and that mixed with world-class facilities gave me the tools to really experiment and try and push my practice in to new and unexpected directions!”
We’re so grateful to play a part in Holly’s journey and can’t wait to see what she does next!

The Studio turns 30 this Sunday and we wouldn’t want to celebrate without you. 🎉
For the past 30 years, The Studio has been a place for creativity, curiosity, and community—and this weekend is all about honoring that (and having a little fun along the way 🤭)
Join us for the opening reception of ‘The Studio at 30: Shaping the Future of Glass Since 1996’ on May 24 from 5:30–7:30 pm in the Burke Room for Ideas in Glass. The show features work by students, instructors, and resident artists, celebrating the experimentation, growth, and transformation that happens here every day.
Come early or stay after to make a day of it—there will be special Make Your Own Glass projects, cupcakes (of course), 30th anniversary merch, and films highlighting artists working in glass, including pieces from @craftinamerica and our Studio Residency program in the Ackerman Family Theater!
It’s free, open to everyone, and we’d love to see you there. 💛 Link in bio for all the details.

My @corningmuseumstudio residency has come to an end! The last two weeks were a whirlwind of testing, making, finishing and packing. I’m heading home with a whole load of new colour tests, ideas and directions and feeling very grateful for the time I got to spend here, alongside the constant support from the whole studio team.
It all finished last night with the opening of 'Tough Stuff', an exhibition celebrating women in American studio glass, which felt like a pretty special way to end these two months — surrounded by the women who paved the way for people like me ❤️

The Studio turns 30 this month, and three decades have gone by in the blink of an eye! 🥹
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re reflecting on the people, stories, friendships, and creative energy that shaped The Studio into what it is today. ‘The Studio at 30: Shaping the Future of Glass since 1996,’ presented in the Burke Room for Ideas in Glass, brings together works by students, instructors, and resident artists exploring growth, experimentation, tradition, and transformation through making.
We’re especially excited to feature @sibelley, alongside many other remarkable makers, in this show at The Studio. Sibelley’s featured work, ‘The Raindrop That Falls from the Sky, Yet never Touches the Ground,’ is one of many pieces highlighting the depth, curiosity, and creativity nurtured within this community over the years. 🌧️💛
Join us for the Opening Reception on May 24 from 5:30–7:30 pm at The Studio! The event is free and open to all, with light refreshments and a cash bar available. Link in bio for more information!
