What if tree care didn’t depend on you making a request?
The Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) is making that a reality with their Area Tree Trimming Initiative.
DSS Forestry crews now go neighborhood by neighborhood, trimming where it’s needed instead of relying on 3-1-1 calls.
This approach is more efficient, more equitable with fewer delays and less for residents to worry about.
Because city services should fix problems fast, clearly, and without delays.

The gaps in maternal healthcare outcomes that mothers in our city, particularly Black mothers, have faced are not new, but are the result of decades of disinvestment. This center is a major step forward in our work to address health inequities on the South Side while reaffirming our commitment to investing in the success and well-being of Chicago families.

One year ago today, the City passed a resolution to honor National Reparations Awareness Day, a moment to acknowledge history and advocate for transformative repair as we work towards a more equitable future.
This milestone would not have been possible without the leadership of N’COBRA and the Conrad Worrill Community Reparations Commission, two key organizations represented on Chicago’s Reparations Taskforce.

This year reminded us that equity work cannot be done alone. It takes all of us, showing up with care, commitment, and resilience.
It also reminded us to laugh, to rest, and to take care of one another along the way.
We are grateful for our partners and our community. Wishing you all a season of rest, reflection, and care.
With gratitude,
OERJ

Thank you, @firstrepair , for welcoming us to the annual Reparations Symposium and creating space for us to learn alongside leaders driving transformative work. From keynote speakers to guests, everyone offered powerful reminders of why reparations matter and what it means to reimagine a future grounded in truth, equity, and repair.
Our very own task force member and equity champion, Tonika Johnson, delivered a keynote that uplifted her truth-telling projects. Our Chicago Reparations Task Force also participated, bringing shared insight to the conversation.
We’re inspired, informed, and more committed than ever to advancing our own reparations efforts with clarity, empowerment, and community at the center.
