CACF
Coalition for Asian American Children + Families is the nation’s only pan-Asian children and families’ advocacy organization.

This is what a diverse AAPI community looks like! 🗽✨
CACF was honored to host leaders from 60+ community-based organizations across NYC this past Tuesday for our Annual Members Meeting. With over 100 guests in attendance, this was the largest gathering in CACF history!
This space was a powerful opportunity for our community to align on shared policy advocacy priorities and our leadership mindsets.
A special thank you to Commissioner Faiza Ali (@NYCImmigrants) for her moving remarks on the challenges facing immigrant New Yorkers and the vital role of the nonprofit sector.
We were also delighted to have Joon Yong Ahn (NYC Speaker’s Office @SpeakerMenin) and Manvir Singh (@nycmayor) join us for our networking reception.
How is your organization showing up for immigrant New Yorkers this year? Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments! 👇

As we enter the final weeks of NYC’s budget season, we’re continuing to call on Speaker Julie Menin (@speakermenin) and the City Council to invest in our communities and the community-based organizations that tirelessly provide the services AAPI New Yorkers need.
We are calling on the City Council to enhance the following key initiatives:
⭐ $7.5M for the AAPI Community Support Initiative to expand vital social services.
⭐ $10M for the Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund (CCNSF) to build capacity for Black, Latinx, and AAPI-led CBOs.
⭐ $4.5M for the Access Health Initiative to ensure healthcare services are linguistically and culturally accessible.
Our communities can’t wait. Join us in demanding that the City Council support AAPI New Yorkers! 🗳️✨

Meet Ashwyn! 🫶 @cacfasap
For the last 3 years, Ashwyn has been deeply involved with CACF’s Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP). The program educates, trains, and equips youth leaders like Ashwyn to be self-aware and informed community leaders by enabling them to contribute to real issues and campaigns impacting their communities, and helps shape youths’ perspective on community.
Ashwyn recalled a research project he completed with CACF, around youth access to mental health services. He said, “In my schol personally, we have two social workers for the whole school: around 500 kids. And believe it or not, that’s actually a really good ratio compared to other public schools in the city. One social worker for 500 to 750 kids means that the social worker cannot create an impactful and meaningful relationship with each of the kids. They’re overworked.”
Ashwyn reflected, “By being introduced to the reality of AAPI communities, and how policy decisions that seem abstract on paper can upend someone’s daily life, I’ve realized that there’s a whole new world out there that I didn’t previously see before joining CACF. We need to think and move beyond the individual and our individual experiences to really focus on the larger systematic issues.”

Congratulations to ASAP Youth Leader Jason Lee! He has been honored with the 2026 'What's Great in Our State' Youth/Young Adult Award from the NYS Office of Mental Health (@officeofmentalhealth).
Through testimonies before New York City Council, working on ASAP’s advocacy campaigns, and facilitating workshops at CACF's annual AAPI-LEAD youth conference, Jason has worked hard to change the conversation about AAPI youth mental health while also working to ensure public school students in New York State have the support they need to thrive.
Ada Lin, CACF’s Senior Manager of Youth and Family Leadership (@cacfasap), was thrilled to receive the award on Jason’s behalf
Be sure to read these great interviews with Jason in AsAm News (@asamnews) and World Journal (@worldjournalny) at the link in our bio!

The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is incredibly proud to announce our 2026-27 AAPI Community Development Fund awardees! 🎉
This year, we are celebrating a major milestone: this cohort is the largest in the fund’s history, supporting 33 community-based organizations across New York State.
These historic awards would not be possible without the continued support of New York State and the tireless advocacy of the CACF co-led AAPI Equity Budget Coalition.
Congratulations to all of these wonderful community-based organizations! For the full press release, please head to the link in our bio.

Thank you to NYC Comptroller Mark Levine (@nyccomptroller) and his office for recognizing CACF this AAPI Heritage Month at Flushing Town Hall! 🏛️💛
This honor from the Comptroller’s Office is particularly special because of the incredible connection our ASAP Youth Leaders (@cacfasap) have built with the Comptroller's incredible team through their work with AAPI Classroom—a series of powerful, youth-led workshops highlighting the real issues affecting AAPI public school students today that we co-host each May. 🎒📣
It is also a particular honor to receive this recognition alongside two longtime CACF member organizations, Diya Basu-Sen of SAPNA NYC (@SapnaNYC) and the Damayan Migrants Workers Association (@DamayanMigrants). We were also delighted to connect with our fellow honorees at @UtopiaNYC! 🤝✨
This award is for all of the AAPI-led and serving community-based organizations across New York City that work tirelessly to ensure our diverse AAPI community get the health, language, and education resources they need each day. Thank you all for doing this work with us for nearly 40 years. 💪❤️
