A whirlwind of gigs, new faces, meeting crews. What an incredible year it's been so far. We wrap up for the year to take some time off to reflect on the journey and to discover what's next.

Here are a few kupu (words) that help bring this kaupapa to life:

• Taonga Pūoro - traditional Māori instruments, each with their own whakapapa (genealogy) and stories.
• Mauri - the life force, essence, or spark that exists in all living things.
• Kaupapa - a guiding purpose or values-based approach.
• Tūpuna - ancestors, those who came before us.

This is the start of a journey I’ve been dreaming about - weaving taonga pūoro into the music I make as BUGG.

For me, it’s about reconnecting with whakapapa, honouring my tūpuna, and exploring how these taonga can live in the music we dance to today.
