We are proud to share a new interview with Mounir Eddib, focusing on the exhibition LITTLE GHETTO BOY. In a new interview, Mounir Eddib reflects on the personal and social realities behind the exhibition. He speaks about growing up in Genk, Belgium the influence of hip-hop culture and migration histories, and the importance of transforming everyday experiences into visual language.
The conversation also explores his use of materials such as melted tin, lead, wood, and textiles, and how these elements connect to memory, labor, protection, and resilience.

Walkthrough video LITTLE GHETTO BOY
In Mounir Eddib’s first solo exhibition in the Netherlands, Little Ghetto Boy, the artist reimagines his own lived experience of growing up in a working-class neighborhood in the former coal-mining town of Genk (Limburg, Belgium). Inspired as a young boy by rappers such as Tupac, he now reworks these transatlantic cultural influences within his artistic practice. Little Ghetto Boy is the title of a single by American soul legend Donny Hathaway (1945–1979).

Mounir Eddib presents ‘Little Ghetto Boy’, his first solo exhibition in the Netherlands. Through painting, sculpture, and installation, Eddib draws from his upbringing in Genk to reflect on migration, identity, and everyday life within working-class communities.
Atelier Van Lieshout presents ‘Nikè’, a new body of sculptural works that reflect on strength, failure, and the role of fate. Using industrial materials, the works take the form of structures and objects that explore systems of power, control, and survival.
