Anyone working Red Rocks? I need a small favor for a small music fans first time!

It's taken a little bit to process this... Chris Athens has passed.

Chris Athens was a legend in the mastering community. He touched so many chart topping records that I assure you - you hear his work every day. I know his name is on some of my absolute favorite albums.

Chris and his team were one of the first to take a chance on me. In Atmos, he provided me incredible opportunities with JID, Marcus King, Story of the Year, Of Mice and Men, and so many more.

Chris was supportive, funny, easy going, and just a great guy to learn from. I have meticulously studied his masters and EQ curves for the past 5 years and learned so much. I have so much gratitude.

Though I always hoped we'd meet in person, I never got to thank him for his mentorship and what he contributed to my career. If you're out there Chris... from the bottom of my heart... thank you 🖤

If someone has made an impact on you, your life, your career, then tell them. Tell them now. I wish I had told this to Chris and Dominick Maita as well. Both legends and both now lost to us.

The @chris.athens.masters team has decided to continue the mastering business in his legacy. I'm very excited for this and know they will do right by Chris and the sound he cultivated.

The Denver film and music community has suffered a huge loss.

I met Tim through music and, like many Evergroove artists, Tim and I quickly became not just friends - we became family. He was passionate, driven, even fierce, but also very understanding, gentle, and kind. He championed his friends and we believed in him as he pursued his dream as a filmmaker - and he succeeded.

Tim worked on impactful documentaries like Chasing Dory, Pain Brain, Rolling Papers and more. He accomplished his dream of making a documentary about the Nenana Ice Classic, simply titled “Classic.” I was surprised when he called to ask if I would handle the movie soundtrack as well as the album. I remember telling him how much of an honor it was to be asked. He simply told me that he had Evergroove in mind from the start and that he couldn’t imagine doing the music with anyone else. Such a huge heart!

Being successful in our careers and Tim becoming a father meant we didn’t get to spend much time together as we would have liked. That said, we when did connect it was like no time had passed. Yes, he was one of those friends.
