For this scene, I pushed to remove the dialogue and shoot at 48fps. I wanted to suspend the moment in time. I wanted the tension to stretch—to trap the character in the moment.I asked myself: what does it feel like when you’re stuck in a moment with someone and you can’t express your frustration? To me, just letting her read her lines, “Son, I’m mad at you…. Because you did XYZ” felt TOO VANILLA. So we took her voice away and let her live in the silence. No escape, just sitting in that anger until it finally boiled over.
