20 years ago my Hollywood dreams were fizzling out, and I was planning to move back to the Bay Area. My wife encouraged to me make a short film before we left, “something to take back with us from Hollywood.”

That short film ended up being “Quest to Ref,” and it won the @americanblackfilmfestival Grand Prize. #DoTheWriteThing

We sat out front all day, just hoping to see his car pull out of the driveway.

Now, all these years later, I’ve been trusted by the Ali estate and Lonnie Ali to direct several episodes of The Greatest — the first authorized scripted series about his life.

It feels surreal, and I don’t take the responsibility lightly. Honored to help bring this story to the screen, and grateful for the support from our incredible partners/collaborators.
