U4IA Markets heads to Brisbane tomorrow!!

We’re taking over Brisbane City Skate for an afternoon of art, clothes, zines, stickers, skating and community. A bunch of local creatives pulling up, setting up and sharing what they do best. No pressure, no big corporate feel, just people creating and connecting in real life.

Come hang out, skate the ramps, check out original artwork, flick through magazines, dig through clothes and meet some genuinely talented people from around Brisbane and the Gold Coast. These kinds of spaces are important. Independent culture only survives when people actually show up and support it.

Mari is a multi disciplinary artist hailing from Thailand, bringing together painting, illustration, design, animation and tattoo inspired influences through her own raw visual language. Come down, hang out, check out the new works and support local art and culture.

Throwback to our interview with @marimarymarymary from last year. In the conversation, she explains her process of drawing not from what she physically sees, but from memory. Moments, feelings and experiences locked away in time, then translated into her own visual language through illustration, painting, animation and design.

This Friday you’ll be able to witness that emotion and energy firsthand at @grittygarmsco as we activate the space with the first U4IA Exhibitions feature. Mari’s work will take over the walls alongside a wider creative installation and transformation of the space with multiple artists involved throughout the project.

There’s not many shops left that genuinely represent the underground the way Crush City Fame does. You walk in and can instantly feel years of graffiti, music, street movement and independent culture packed into one space. In a time where everything is becoming polished and commercial, stores like this still hold onto rawness and originality. They’re important because they give culture a physical place to exist. Somewhere people can discover new artists, meet like minded people and stay connected to what’s actually happening in the streets rather than what’s trending online. Brisbane needs spaces like this.
