Artists are the heartbeat of California’s vibrancy, innovation, and cultural richness, yet the state ranks just 35th nationwide in per-capita arts funding. Institutions like the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture @thecheechcenter play a vital cultural role by providing space for the continued exhibition, scholarship, and dialogue that connect Chicano and Mexican American art and expression to the cultural fabric of what characterizes California stories.
A $50 million investment will help sustain cultural landmarks like the Cheech. If we want thriving communities and to lead with diversity, we need help to increase arts funding to $50 million.
