What can kill our 3D printed bump stops? All it takes is multiple hits from a 110,000LB excavator, with a hydraulic jackhammer, and a 70,000LB excavator. No big deal 😂

Many people think 3D printed suspension parts can't handle abuse. So, we set out to find the limit. We found it, broke our parts on camera and we documented it for everyone to see.

We build our products, and our machines, right here in house - specifically so we can print from industrial grade injection molding pellets that no one else can. Our goal is to build the toughest damn parts possible, and to demonstrate what’s possible.

We’re transparent about this stuff, because:
1 - Nothing is indestructible, and we believe pushing our stuff to the limit proves our product. We’re here to prove it.
2 - We’re always iterating and improving. When we see a product wearing in a specific location in the field, we can locally reinforce that region of the part. Meaning future versions are even more durable than before.
3 - We back our customers. If you’re going to innovate, you need to back up your early adopters. Every single part we make is backed by our two-year, no questions asked warranty. If you can break it (YES, even with an excavator) we’ll replace it.

Who would’ve thought. 3d printed bump stops are probably a wild concept to most and were to me at first but after looking into it and seeing the durability tests I’m impressed. They feel way better than the stock bumps which they should because Perry parts actually dynos the shocks on your specific vehicle trim and then tunes the bump stops to complement the shocks. Some pretty sweet tech!

We’ve got the data to prove it 📈🔥💯 - We test and test and test our bump stops and are continuously testing, evolving and improving them. We could have just shared our test results, but we figured you guys would want another opinion.

So, we contracted an independent third party suspension company, Midwest Suspension Company (mwsuspensionco.com) to test our bump stops against the competition.

This high-speed fixed-displacement test was performed on bump stops from 6 top manufacturers, plus our own. Here are the brands we tested:

Perry Parts

DuroBumps

Energy Suspension

Sumo Springs

Timbren

Super Bumps

OEM Toyota

All products tested are marketed and sold for 4th and 5th gen Toyota 4Runners, 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacomas, GX470 and 460, as well as FJ Cruisers.

If you’re interested in seeing the raw data, go to Perryparts.com/proof, or feel free to comment below or send us a DM. We’d love to hear from you!

Lots of good changes on this Tacoma while it was here. It was probably the most destroyed truck I've worked on. Both front cross members bent upward, bent LCA pivots, bent control arms, factory skid plate formed into the cross members, and so much more.

We did our full alignment kit, @drtfabrication spindle gussets, @dirtking UCAs, raised pre load and replaced shock bearings/misalignments, @yukongearandaxle needle bearing eliminator, @superprosuspension LCA bushings, brake lines/ @perryparts bump stops front and rear, and corrected the previous owners Chevy 63" spring swap job. We changed the rear shackle/hanger setup out for a @rockhoundoffroad kit which completely fixed the shackle angle and got this thing working how it's supposed to.

The truck left a little more dialed in with a more confident owner driving it👏

At Perry Parts, we do not 3D print from filament. The benefit of that is being able to print from materials that are typically not possible to 3D print. This is a great application of that. By 3D printing directly from industrial grade ultra high-performance urethane, we can literally hold up a roller coaster. And now, we do.
I wanted to share this one and got permission from the customer. We just recently passed their cycle fatigue testing, and longevity testing - blog post on the Perry Parts site coming soon!

The verdict is in… these new-generation bump stops from @perryparts are absolutely putting everything else in the direct bolt-on category to shame.

They’ve repeatedly performed both on-road and off-road while towing and hauling without issue. Honestly, there’s not much more I could ask for out of a bump stop short of jumping the truck —and I don’t ever plan on doing that anyway.

I can’t wait for the full review to drop on TrailTundra.com, but this new wave of manufacturing using 3D printing, producing little to no waste while still delivering a high-quality product, really feels like the future.

I honestly didn’t realize how bad the factory bump stops were until I installed these. I had another aftermarket bump stop setup on my Tacoma before, and while it worked well, it still didn’t have the same smooth engagement and controlled feel these air chamber designs provide.

Pretty cool getting to be one of the first people out there putting real miles on them.

I wanted to take a minute to highlight a customer who’s really been putting our parts through their paces —@blueberry.taco. Ryo & Jess have been living out of their Tacoma full-time, and have taken their truck from the Arctic Circle all the way to Baja. We made Ryo a set of custom tuned bump stops for their JD Fab LT kit back in 2024.

Since then, their truck has seen over 23,000 miles of non-stop off roading. This Tacoma is built heavy... with a trussed rear axle, long travel kit, and more, so you know they’re hitting their bump stops often.

To prove the point that this is an abuse case, here’s a list of everything that hasn’t lasted as long as their Perry Parts bump stops.

💥Cracked aluminum camper tie-downs
💥Cracked the factory bed mounts that are factory welded to the frame
💥 Front bumper crashing into fenders and blown-out front body mounts
💥 Degraded front lower ball joint uniballs grinding down the trail
💥 A destroyed snow shovel and a bent Maxtrax rack from slamming into a massive washout
💥 Loose rear locker airline fittings puking gear oil
💥 A dying starter battery, camper water leaks, and even a clogged sink!
