After 20 years of planning and with over $700 Million invested from both private and public sectors, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s new David Geffen Galleries building is finally open.

The grandiose architectural project was designed by the Swiss architect and Pritzker Prize winner, Peter Zumthor, offering a reimagined world-class museum for the 21st century, reflecting the city’s innovative style and offering a different presentational approach for experiencing one of the richest art collections in the Southern California region.

When you step into the museum, you will not find a typical Eurocentric and encyclopedic display, but rather a non-linear conversation between past, present, and future that isn’t based on geopolitical or cultural hierarchies. Carefully organized and placed in collaboration by dozens of LACMA’s curators, ancient masterpieces stand next to contemporary art, inviting visitors to wander through 6,000 years of time and place, seeing connections between artworks in an ongoing rotation. The world’s art heritage has never been more in conversation with Los Angeles’ complex cultural identity and history.

Welcome to the David Geffen Art Galleries at LACMA - reserve your timed entrance now - for members through May 3 and to the general public starting May 4.
After you visit, let us know what you think

Karena Massengill @karena4art introduces the concept behind her new solo exhibition - Reverberations - opening June 6 at the Palos Verdes Art Center @pvartcenter from 6-9pm.
Artist Talk in June 20 from 1-3pm.

Massengill starts with a spark of inspiration to drawing on paper, then measuring and cutting metal, welding the pieces together, burning the paper with the assembled work, and then creating a painting on the charred surface resulting in two unique artworks. The side by side comparisons creates fascinating conversations between materials.

The Loft at Liz’s Annual Nature Exhibition pays homage to nature and the environment. This year’s rendition, originally planned and curated for 2020, had to be cancelled and postponed due to the COVID epidemic. Six years later, the show serendipitously aligned with this year’s NASA’s Artemis II mission. The artists showing in the exhibition explore imagery and survival in space as well as how space affects Earth.
The exhibition is curated by Liz Gordon, and it features artworks by Aline Mare, Bonita Helmer, Lindsay Thomson, James Griffith, Katie Elizabeth Stubblefield, Larry & Debby Kline, and Amanda Flowers.
The show runs through June 1st, 2026.

Kohei Nawa:Photon Camp
at Pace Gallery, April 11 - June 6, 2026
@nawa_kohei @pacegallery

Drawing out the unique properties of various traditional and unconventional materials in his paintings, sculptures, and installations, Nawa explores nuanced relationships between physical and virtual spaces, synthetic and natural forces, and the individual and the collective. Intrinsic to his practice is a rigorous engagement with technologies that traverse eras and cultures, particularly information technologies. Visual distortions and transformations cut across his artworks, encouraging viewers to consider the ways that digital technologies impact their relationship to and experience of the physical world.

Titled Photon Camp, the artist’s exhibition at Pace Los Angeles foregrounds his expansive investigations of perceptual and sensory phenomena and reflects new directions in his recent work. For Nawa, an artwork is not a static entity fixed by a single interpretation. Rather, it is a phenomenological event that occurs when swarms of photons momentarily and miraculously come together. His first installation comprising both his PixCell and Prism series—which he has developed continuously over the course of his career—explores tensions between the natural and the artificial, the real and the fictional, and the sacred and the profane.

Watch our full video walkthrough of Nawa's optical delights on our website and media channel.

Wende Museum @wendemuseum Curator Joes Segal @joessegal gives us an introduction to their current exhibitions.
Wende is a German word meaning “turning point” or “change” that has come to describe the transformative period around the fall of the Berlin Wall. Founded in 2002, the Wende Museum holds an unparalleled collection of art and artifacts from the Cold War era, which serves as a foundation for programs that illuminate the political and cultural changes of the past, offer opportunities to make sense of a changing present, and inspire active participation in the personal and social changes that will shape the future.

Video features: @studioenriquemartinezcelaya
Enrique Martínez Celaya: The Sextant
Between 1957 and 1963, the artist’s father built a modernist house in a small coastal village in Cuba. The time period spanned the Cuban Revolution, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the United States embargo against Cuba, a political context that in various ways reflected the story of the house. This house, in which Martínez Celaya’s family waited for exile, now serves as an official wedding venue, carrying with it the contradictions and the scars of the Communist Revolution and its aftermath.

Anton Roland Laub: Mobile Churches in Ceasusescu’s Bucharest
Bucharest in the 1980s. Ceausescu’s “systematization” program is in full swing in the Romanian capital: one-third of the historic center is being wiped out to make room for the megalomaniacal “People’s House” and create large avenues for official parades. When halted after the fall of the Ceausescu regime in 1989, this demolition program is said to have caused the largest peacetime destruction in the history of Europe.

Ivana Dama:Breathing Alarms @ivana.dama
Reimagines this East German guardhouse inviting visitors to engage directly with sound, space, and the mechanics of perception. Rather than operating through a conventional mechanical or electronic trigger, the custom siren in Dama’s installation is activated by the breath of visitors.

Wende Museum is free to the public and open Friday - Sunday from 10am- 5pm

Don’t miss Rhett Baruch Gallery’s @rhett.baruch.gallery Flowers of the Field, a group exhibition hosted at Jean Pascal Florist @jeanpascalflorist Beverly Hills through May 2.

Reflecting on the fleeting nature of beauty, the exhibition draws on the metaphor of “flowers of the field”—which bloom briefly before fading. The exhibition contrasts impermanence with notions of the eternal, inviting a deeper consideration of presence, ephemerality, and the quiet intensity of moments that exist only temporarily.

Participating Artists: Marcus Bernardes, Amelia Briggs, Benjamin Claudel, Sasha Court, Fliss Dodd, Atelier FIG, Peter Helinski, Hyunuko, Eugenie Kawabata, Rami Kim, Marlon Marinero, Karl Monies, Maxwell Mustardo, Future Retrieval, Marcel Rozek, David Schell, Yamasaki Yuto.
