Msaki, Tubatsi, Frédéric Soulard, and Clément Petit have officially touched down in Japan! 🛬

This concert by the four artists will take place on Sunday, April 19 at 16:30 at the Higashi Honganji Audio-Visual Hall. This will be their only performance in Japan during this visit as part of KYOTOPHONIE 2026—don’t miss this rare opportunity!

Msaki will be also be speaking at the “South Africa in Focus” symposium, held on the same day at the same venue from 13:30pm. The event is free to attend, so we encourage you to enjoy it alongside the concert (prior reservation required).

【Who is Tubatsi? @tm_moloi 】
4月19日（日）、南アフリカを代表するミュージシャン・トゥバツィが、ムサキ、クレモン・プティ、フレデリック・スラードとともに、東本願寺にて開催するKYOTOPHONIEライブに出演！貴重な初来日公演をどうぞお見逃しなく。

[Tubatsi]
トゥバツィ・ムポ・モロイ（Tubatsi Mpho Moloi）は、ブルース、ジャズ、ロック、アフリカン・フォークを融合させた音楽を手がける南アフリカのシンガーソングライター。ギタリストのガイ・バタリー、フィリップ・タバネ、ボブ・ディラン、ジム・ンクワネらの影響を受け、探求的なフォーク・サウンドを生み出している。

ソウェトで育った彼は、幼い頃からパフォーマンスを始め、後にミュージカル『Umoja』にも出演。現在は実験的バンドUrban Villageのリード・ボーカルを務め、フルート、ギター、ムビラの演奏も担当している。

これまでにアルバート・フロスト、レディスミス・ブラック・マンバーゾ、フェミ・コヤ、マダラ・クネネらと共演。Nirox Foundationのレジデント・アーティストとして活動するほか、AfropunkやNational Arts Festivalなどのフェスティバルにも出演している。

On Sunday 19 April, South African musician Tubatsi Mpho Moloi will join @msaki_za,@clementpeti, and @frederic__soulard for a KYOTOPHONIE live concert at Higashi Honganji. Don’t miss it! 🎶

[Tubatsi]
Tubatsi Mpho Moloi is a South African singer-songwriter blending blues, jazz, rock, and African folk. Influenced by artists such as Guy Buttery, Philip Tabane, Bob Dylan, and Zim Nqawane, he creates an exploratory fusion folk sound.
Raised in Soweto, he began performing early and later appeared in the musical Umoja. He is now the lead vocalist of the experimental band Urban Village, contributing flute, guitar, and mbira.
