Corrupted Disco Sector presents an evening of livecoded audio-visual sets, celebrating the queer history of house, disco, and all other forms and genres of electronic escape, celebration, liberation, and resistance.

Livecode.nyc is a community organization that promotes and organizes events for the art of livecoding: the performance of digital art and music by the act of coding, live, on-stage and in real-time.

Don’t expect a DJ playing back pre-recorded tracks; you’re more likely to see warped digital feedback on screen while a hacker sculpts abstract noise from pure functions into a meticulously engineered groove.

Join an orca livecoding workshop, no prior experience necessary! Two hours of workshop time followed by free play and feedback for those who want it. Orca, by Hundred Rabbits, is a two-dimensional visual programming language for generative midi sequencing.

Who is this for?
- Anyone!
- Artists and musicians interested in coding as play, to make experimental electronic music
- Livecoders who use other languages like Tidal/Strudel/SonicPi etc. and want to try orca
- Musicians who want to experiment with generative midi sequencing for improvisation, idea generation, composition, performance, with DAWs like Ableton, or soft synths, or hardware synths including modular
- Anyone interested in generating time-based events and control signals in midi, OSC, or UDP to connect with other environments like Max/MSP, Pure Data, TouchDesigner, etc.

What do you need to bring?
- Laptop (Windows or Mac) and headphones
- optionally, any software synth / app or hardware synth you want to sequence from orca

Workshop hosted by Eric Lee (easterner), who is an avid livecoder and audiovisual artist. Part of an ongoing series of workshops co-organised by @livecodenyc and @creativecodeart communities.

Livecode.NYC is a New York City-based artist collective devoted to the real-time programming technique called livecoding, and exploring its potential as a methodology of artistic expressions. This leaderless collective has no formal membership or hierarchy; anyone is welcome to join, attend, and host events. Our members include artists, engineers, actors, designers, educators, musicians, game developers, and writers. We view live coding as a process-driven practice and not specific to a particular medium or language. This event will have individuals live coding music and visuals through programs like tidal cycles, strudel, hydra, unreal engine, and custom made technologies.
