SOMA SOMA
Soma Soma are an 8-piece band performing their unique style of Afro-brazilian music. Based in Bristol, UK, Soma Soma are made up of Brazilian and British musicians and sing in Brazilian Portuguese. The vocal performances are powerful and emotive, conveying the passion of the music even for those who don’t understand the language.

Their music combines Brazilian styles such as the rhythmic drive of Samba, the smooth melodies of Bossa Nova, and the soulful sway of Arrocha with the vibrant energy of African Highlife, the groove of Afrobeat, and the infectious danceability of Soukous. They take an unorthodox approach to song writing which takes listeners on an emotional journey, swaying and listening intently to deep psychedelic soundscapes and dancing ecstatically to authentic Samba.

Visions feels like a quiet shift in approach rather than a dramatic reinvention. Instead of dense layering, saxophonist, clarinettist, producer and composer @benjaminsamuelsmusic leans into space, letting collaboration shape the direction.

The result is an EP that moves with patience, where groove and improvisation meet halfway and stay there.

Across its short runtime, Visions stays grounded in connection. It's less about showcasing skill and more about capturing moments as they happen, which turns out to be its strongest move.
