On Monday, I joined a group that volunteered with @thisisabouthumanity in Tijuana for migrant families and asylum seekers on the border. It was a powerful and profound day where we had the opportunity to be of service.

During our time with @thisisabouthumanity, we prepared meals in the relief kitchen opened in partnership with @icfdn and @fundaciontijuanasinhambre - these organizations are providing 2500 meals daily to children and families at the border.

We were able to replace tents at the shelter for families, which were needed after the rainy season, and clean the shelter.  Children had their faces painted, and our partners @immdef_lawcenter distributed legal information to families seeking asylum.

Watching the migrant families and asylum seekers receive this information was incredibly powerful. Their desire for a safe, secure, and stable future was as palatable as the fear they faced. It secured my belief that we are not victims of our situations but heroes of our own stories when we take action.
