Back in 2001, Buck and Camp, the cofounders of @wrongmarfa, decided to test their burgeoning three-month-old relationship with a road trip out west. What started as a pit stop in Marfa ended up being a more permanent stay when they fell head over heels for the tiny town. Today, their multihyphenate storefront, gallery, and bar occupies a 2,000-square-foot space in the center of town, which formerly housed the town’s barber shop, car dealership, and most recently, the local newspaper’s headquarters. Now, the structure’s original windows light up with the bright desert sun, bouncing off lacquered hot pink floors—Johnston’s signature touch. “All artwork looks good with a pink floor,” the former graphic designer says. A 1930s chandelier from the Hotel Paso del Norte in El Paso hangs above a custom asterisk-shaped table, giving patrons ample room to admire curated wares on each of the table’s wings. Though the couple claim that Wrong’s evolution has unfolded off the cuff—“We just fell into it, and it worked,” Johnston says—their keen curatorial eye and the community they’ve built solidifies Wrong as a Marfa mainstay. “If we get pushback, we know we’re doing something right,” Bosworth confirms. History: These are from drops or pieces of wood Camp has had forever. Too beautiful for firewood, so spoons they are. Wood he has had for 30+ years.

Woods: Osage, black walnut, cherry, pecan, mesquite, mahogany, mystery woods.

Each piece is carved according to how it spoke to Camp — getting around knots, splits and checks.

ALL 250 will be on the table starting Friday, November 28. Prices range $30-100.

His earliest work was featured in shows at the CAMH in Houston, the BlueStar and Museum of Art in San Antonio, and was a two-time winner of the Awards to Young Artists from the DMA in Dallas. Jean has pieces in the San Antonio museum of art permanent collection. He showed extensively in Texas and elsewhere. He spent the next 25 years in the architectural design field - fabricating custom furnishings among other endeavors. He has recently returned to making paintings and sculpture.

BOOM AND DUST is a book and live music event showcasing a 58 ft accordion fold photo book by photographers Jason Reed and Barry Stone. BOOM AND DUST depicts the petroplex, a  40-mile stretch of highway between Midland and Odessa, Texas.  The book is accompanied by a soundscape recorded in the Permian which will be conjured live by Porch Swing Orchestra for the event. 

Yes, 58 ft accordion fold book! Probably the longest one ever.
