What is special about this film from an editing perspective is that everything you see, everything that looks like effects and all the visual elements are recorded in camera and we decided to treat the footage with only classic cuts in the edit room.

I had the honor to work on a music video with my beloved brother and oldest creative companion @monkyman_music. The first time we shot a film together I was 11 and he was 10 years old. Some of this footage made it into the video. It was challenging to create something from personal archive that can still be relatable to anyone watching and is not only nostalgic to family members. We might have managed.

During this process I realized again what a privileged childhood I had. Privileged not in the sense of monetary wealth but because I was loved unconditionally and did not only grow up in a safe environment but was always fostered and supported by my family to do what I love: create. And to top it all off, I was granted 3 brothers to play and create with. All of who I love and respect more than anything in this world.

And while I say this I am sad beyond words for all the families that are not able to live and appreciate their bond at all. Families that are wiped out, mothers who lose their children, brothers and sisters who lose their siblings. Every day. For no reason but greed and territorial interest of a very few men with broken egos and psychopathic characters. It’s impossible to imagine how you can get so disconnected from the very natural human instinct to love and protect life. None of this is normal and none of this is natural human behavior.

Lastly, I congratulate my brother to this beautiful song which I understand as a reminder to not give up on love. If you are privileged enough to live safely around those you care for: practice gratitude, forgive yourself and others and never stop to believe in good. Without hope we are lost. Anyhow, enjoy watching/listening and give thanks to the little team behind the project.

CHILDREN OF THE CHTHULUCENE*

"The Anthropocene has passed.
We are bacteria and calluses,
bones and water—cyborgs
with branded clothes, shrubs
without soil. CHILDREN OF THE
CTHULUCENE is a speculative
observation of the present.

We portray the alienation of the
world, of nature, of the human,
and the more-than-human. Just
so we can drift from alienation
to reconciliation. Just so we can
dehumanise ourselves. To be
reborn in the rich humus, and
the mycelia, the underground
constellation of stars. To become
trees and mushrooms, every bone;
glancing into the fiery sun ablaze at
the Earth‘s core. We are standing
on the weathered grasses of a
scorched world, with dry tears
– and full of hope."
