Coming soon! From 19 June to 30 August, Framer Framed presents ๐‘Š๐‘–๐‘™๐‘‘ ๐‘Š๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ : ๐ท๐‘Ž๐‘š๐‘  ๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘‘ ๐ท๐‘’๐‘™๐‘ก๐‘Ž๐‘  ๐ด๐‘“๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐‘€๐‘œ๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘›๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘ฆ, curated by ร€ngels Miralda.

The exhibition examines water as both a life-sustaining resource and an instrument of political power, tracing the ways hydraulic infrastructures have shaped landscapes, histories and systems of environmental exploitation across different geographies.

During the era of global modernisation, dams and river engineering came to symbolise technological progress and national development. Yet such projects have often been accompanied by displacement and erasure. In ๐‘Š๐‘–๐‘™๐‘‘ ๐‘Š๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ , ancient myths and contemporary struggles converge along the Meuse, Vistula, Tajo and Tigris, and in the deltaic cultures of Bangladesh and the Ebro Delta, as the artists trace the entanglements between water, colonial expansion and territorial exploitation.

Featuring works by Jumana Emil Abboud, Suzette Bousema, Ewa Ciepielewska & Agnieszka Brzeลผaล„ska, Giovanni Giaretta, Adelita Husni-Bey, Anna Moreno, Suat ร–ฤŸรผt, Eunice Pais, Ashfika Rahman, Morteza Soorani, and Abdo Zin Eldin.

๐‘๐‘œ๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘  ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘‚๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐น๐‘ข๐‘ก๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘  (2026) is a new anthology offering snapshots of Framer Framed's now more-than-fifteen-year history. It features contributions by artists, curators, researchers, writers, activists, thinkers and cultural workers exploring the ways of working, remembering, and acting that shape the organisation's continuous learning.

In curator Binna Choi's contribution ๐น๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘š ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘–๐‘  ๐‘€๐‘–๐‘‘๐‘‘๐‘™๐‘’ ๐‘ƒ๐‘œ๐‘ ๐‘ ๐‘–๐‘๐‘–๐‘™๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘’๐‘  ๐ด๐‘๐‘œ๐‘ข๐‘›๐‘‘, she reflects on her early encounters with Framer Framed during its formative years. Choi situates these reflections within broader themes of representation, post-colonialism and cultural politics, interweaving her experiences as a Korean curator navigating the Dutch cultural landscape.

"I remember that back then, it was often said that doing something on women or feminism in the Netherlands did not work or had no public appeal. I also recall that the notion of post-colonialism was almost non-existent at that time, let alone decolonisation or even colonialism..."

Throughout the day, collaborators and publishers will host a series of presentations. At 14:00, HumDrumPress presents an Open Book session with artist Mirjam Linschooten and researcher Skye Maule-Oโ€™Brien, who will share their upcoming publication, ๐ต๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘กโ„Ž & ๐ต๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘’๐‘ง๐‘’: ๐‘‡๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘”๐‘ข๐‘’๐‘™๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘  ๐‘Šโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘  ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘Š๐‘–๐‘›๐‘‘.

The project explores wind, wind technology, and the Dutch colonial footprint in Barbados and Curaรงao, asking what the wind can reveal about historical power relations and the enduring structures of colonialism.

Visitors are invited to engage directly with the publication: to access, interact with, annotate, question, critique and contribute to the collaborative publishing process.

On ๐’๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ we celebrate the launch of the publication ๐‘๐‘œ๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘  ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘‚๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐น๐‘ข๐‘ก๐‘ข๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘ : ๐น๐‘–๐‘“๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘’๐‘› ๐‘Œ๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘  ๐‘œ๐‘“ ๐น๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘š๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐น๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘š๐‘’๐‘‘.

In the last fifteen years, long-standing norms such as the autonomy of art, the neutrality of exhibition spaces, and the hegemony of Western art history have been increasingly questioned. The exhibition ๐ต๐‘’๐‘ก๐‘ค๐‘’๐‘’๐‘› ๐น๐‘–๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘  is soon coming to a close. Over its course, we've reflected on the afterlives of nuclear infrastructures and how they continue to shape landscapes, bodies and collective memory across different geographies. Weโ€™re grateful to all the artists, researchers, contributors and visitors who have been part of it and who helped shape the conversations!

To close the programme we invite you on ๐’๐ฎ๐ง๐๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ• ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ for the finissage, where a conversation between curator ๐…๐š๐›๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ง๐ž ๐‘๐š๐œ๐ก๐ฆ๐š๐๐ข๐ž๐ฏ, artist ๐ˆ๐ง๐š๐ฌ ๐‡๐š๐ฅ๐š๐›๐ข and researcher ๐’๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐š ๐‡๐ž๐ง๐ง๐ข addresses the invisible yet lasting impacts of nuclear activity across different contexts.
