OCHAP | Office for Cohabitation Processes is an architectural design and research office directed by Valerio Franzone, and based in New York and Rome.
OCHAP works at the intersection between architecture, humanity, and nature to foster the built environment's relational and sustainable character by investigating architecture's limits, potentialities, and roles. Shape, tectonics, program, and processuality become devices to explore possible cohabitation counter-typologies and strategies between different natural and artificial systems at multiple scales.
OCHAP develops architecture’s cohabitation potential to oppose individualistic, exploitive, colonial, discriminatory, and extractive approaches by understanding the ecological, cultural, social, economic, technological, and political processes involved. OCHAP rethinks architecture’s status quo to tackle the urgencies of societies and ecosystems and envision other possible futures.
Architecture is action, not just representation.
