That day Annelies Strba invited me to join her visiting her friend Theresa Rothenbühler in her habitat in Acquarossa, a village in Ticino, Switzerland. Relaxing times in her haven of plants and ancient trees against a scenic mountain backdrop.
Picture 1, 2 and 5 are made by Annelies Strba.

Throughout the winter months, Galerie Gris became the atelier of artist Sarah Eechaut.
We warmly invite you to the finissage, where sound artist Jan D’Haene - @jan_dhaene_music -will delight us with a live concert. This performance features work from his latest album, Studio Music. A slow-paced work full of introspective passages performed on shells, cornet, and electronics. Music that invites stillness. His music embodies the tension between vulnerability and strength, between the individual and the universal. This also characterizes Eechaut’s work, as does the presence of nature, our deepest essence. Very welcome to this intimate finissage at Sarah Eechaut’s galery studio where Sofie Crabbé - @sofcrabbe - will read her text on the artist’s creative process.

The books that left a deep and lasting impression on me in 2025, in no particular order.
Thank you for writing these wonderful books. Your sentences, ideas, and (in the case of novels) your characters linger with me, day after day.
‘Many people who write about art want to hover above it. I want to slip beneath it and work hard to lift just a corner of its mystery.’ @sirihustvedt, during our talk at her home on August 9, 2025.
‘Read everything, especially what you don’t understand.’ mother of @ocean_vuong
‘You have to move towards the unknown, the mystery. The condition of not knowing is the first step of knowledge. Don’t be afraid of not knowing. You owe it to yourself to go to the root of the mystery.’ @ocean_vuong in Oprah’s Book Club

Posted @withregram • @artforum Musician-artist Björk talks with author-scientist Robin Wall Kimmerer for our October episode of Artists on Writers |Writers on Artists. Follow the link through our bio to listen or stream the full conversation. Note: this episode is available in audio format only.
Together they discuss subjects ranging from how language connects us to the natural world; the consequences — both personal and global — of living apart from nature; and what it means in our transient society to live in right relationship to the land. Björk’s latest album ‘Fossora’ is out with One Little Independent Records. Robin Wall Kimmerer’s most recent book, ‘Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants’, is available from Milkweed Editions.

So much recommended, reading ‘Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer ❤️❤️❤️
‘In the Western tradition there is a recognized hierarchy of beings, with, of course, the human being on top — the pinnacle of evolution, the darling of Creation — and the plants at the bottom. But in Native ways of knowing, human people are often referred to as “the younger brothers of Creation.” We say that humans have the least experience with how to live and thus the most to learn—we must look to our teachers among the other species for guidance. Their wisdom is apparent in the way that they live. They teach us by example. They’ve been on the earth far longer than we have been, and have had time to figure things out.’
***
‘In some Native languages the term for plants translates to those who take care of us.’
***
‘Sometimes I wish I could photosynthesize so that just by being, just by shimmering at the meadow's edge or floating lazily on a pond, I could be doing the work of the world while standing silent in the sun.’
***
‘Know the ways of the ones who take care of you, so that you may take care of them. Introduce yourself. Be accountable as the one who comes asking for life. Ask permission before taking. Abide by the answer. Never take the first. Never take the last. Take only what you need. Take only that which is given. Never take more than half. Leave some for others. Harvest in a way that minimizes harm. Use it respectfully. Never waste what you have taken. Share. Give thanks for what you have been given. Give a gift, in reciprocity for what you have taken. Sustain the ones who sustain you and the earth will last forever.’
