REAL TALK ⤵️

✅ Shooting the LEAD in a Netflix series.

✅ Leading alongside some BIG BOYS in theatre in my West End debut.

✅ Being a POSTER GIRL for the National Theatre.

✅ Playing some of the most iconic women in all of human history.

✅ Gallivanting about the world on fabulous holidays when I’m “out of work”

There was a version of me that thought that was the fantasy.

The unattainable thing.

The dream you hold privately because saying it out loud feels too bold, too much, too “who do you think you are?”

And yet.

Here’s what I know now that I didn’t know then:

The fantasy was never really about the credits.

It was about knowing — truly knowing — that I was capable of holding that level of success.

That I belonged in those rooms.

That I didn’t have to shrink, or hustle myself into the ground, or wait for someone to pick me before I started leading my own career.

That knowing? That’s the work.

And that’s exactly what we do inside Leading Lady Material.

Not just the strategy.
Not just the audition technique.

But the identity shift and up-level that makes all of it actually land — and stick.

Because the fantasy isn’t too big for you.

You just need to lead yourself like someone who believes that they are worthy of it and take action accordingly.

The last birthday I spent in NYC was my 24th, in 2018.

I was studying at Strasberg (despite being a few years into my career already) and I was broke, broke.

But something big was shifting in me. It always does when I’m in this city.

This was pre-Casualty, pre-Cleo, pre-National, pre-West End, pre- @empoweredactors.

It was actually quite a desperately clueless time for me.

But it was such an important and necessary chapter in preparing me for everything that came next.

And being back here now as I turn 32 on the Spring Equinox -

as a working actor, a successful business owner and coach who helps other actors, and a person who is stable and secure -

it feels only right that I shout out this dancing-on-tables homie from 2018 who had no idea how she’d get there, but kept putting one foot in front of the other all the same.

I appreciate you girlie! I can’t wait to see what we become over the next 8 years ✨✨✨

I’ll tell you this for free:

I felt like it would get in my way for years too.

I was TOLD it would get in my way.

But it didn’t.

I am frequently the only, or one of few on jobs without a drama school education.

I also usually have some of the biggest credits of the bunch.

It doesn’t matter what anyone else says or thinks.

For my good, responsible girls, doing everything “right” but feeling like it’s probably not going to happen at this point:

I know it’s not fair.

I know how much you care.

I know how much it hurts when you hear “no”. Again.

I’m sorry that it isn’t easier.

I’m sorry that you weren’t born into better advantages.

I’m sorry you don’t have all the control (and feel like you have none).

I understand how isolating it can feel.

I understand how unpredictable and stressful every new year feels.

I understand you just want to be given the chance to show them you can do it. Just once.

…

AND I also know you are worthy of your desires (or else you wouldn’t have been given them).

I know it’s possible for you, even though it seems impossible.

And how do I know?

Because I “shouldn’t” have been this successful without a formal drama school education, rich or industry connected parents, and a 🍆

Nor with brown skin and a neurospicy brain either.

I know because I know I’m not anymore special than you.

I know because I’ve seen how the work WORKS for people like you, who dared to leap and bet on themselves too (not just me!)

And I think you know too.

Even though it scares you.

So let’s lean in, together?
