Hey PSUGD! Meet this term’s COMMS TEAM
🔸🐎We’re here to celebrate your work, share your ideas, and keep our design community connected all term long 🐎🔸

The Comms Team Headquarters is Rodeo! Wait... what is Rodeo? Rodeo is the in-house student-powered design studio that meets every Tuesday and Thursday in room 320 from 1:30 to 4:10. It's a class open to all and runs every term. Want to get weird, collab in real time, and get your design on? — Come and join us!

Yanet (she/her)
I’m a double major in Graphic Design and Chicanx and Latinx Studies, currently exploring how to merge the two in my work. I love creating physical designs I can actually hold, and I’ve been diving into pattern design lately—it scratches a very specific creative itch. Outside of school, I spend time with my family—my mom, sister, fiancé—and our adorable dog and cat.

Tianna (she/her)
Hey there! I’m a junior in the program, and this is my first Rodeo (yippee!). I love illustration and am always trying to learn more about page layout, branding, and pretty much anything design-related. Outside of design, you can find me crocheting, playing Legend of Zelda (Twilight Princess is the best), or hanging out with my family’s cats.

Jes (she/her)
This ain’t my first rodeo—it’s my second 🤠
I’m pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design and am powered almost entirely by coffee and chaos ☕️💻 Illustration, page layout, and web design all have a special place in my heart. I’ve been freelancing and fully supporting myself through design since 2022, but I got my start making band posters for my band, local venues, and friends. Outside of design, I’m usually petting my dog, holding hands with my partner, or playing guitar.

Sophomores: your Fall registration questions answered!
Why can’t I register for DES 320 or some of my other junior year classes?
Fall registration may be on our doorstep, but no one will be able to register for DES 320 and a few other key third-year classes when it happens. Those core PSUGD junior year classes are reserved for students who have passed Sophomore Portfolio Review—and we don’t yet know who that will be! There may be other 300-level classes you can register for, but you’ll need to wait for results to be posted to register for DES 320 and some others.

When will we know if we can register for DES 320 and other required DES junior year classes?
When Review results are announced. Generally, results are announced the week after finals week has been completed. In 2026, this will likely be sometime between June 12–16. Result announcements will come in the form of an email from a PSUGD faculty member or member of the administrative staff. Do not attempt to register for DES 320 and other restricted classes before results have been announced via email.

What can we do right now?
Focus on your portfolio while registering for other classes you need. Need help knowing what to do? Reading your DARS, either on your own or with a faculty advisor, can help you know what you need for your future whether your portfolio receives a passing score or not. Faculty advisors are available until the end of the academic year to help students choose classes, as well as critique work you’re revising for your portfolio. Need help making a plan? Book an appointment at: art-design.youcanbook.me

Tune in Tuesday (5/19) for another One Day Atta Time, where Marlyn will take over the story! ✨

She is a junior in the Graphic Design program who enjoys experimenting with all facets of design. If she had to choose her favorites, it would include illustrating, layouts, and especially UX and UI design. 📲

Outside of class, you can usually find Marlyn loving on her animals, a whopping 9 chickens🐔and one dog🐶. There is never a time to herself with so many animals, but she doesn’t want it any other way.

See more of Marlyn’s world over on their Instagram: @Marlawnnn
